Pro tip: use his forehead sweat to lubricate your hand before digging for those collar chokes. It is super demoralizing for uke.

We were doing this tonight. Lifting with the belt is simple but very effective I love this channel so much. I can rarely get more than 2 sessions per week right now, so i try to study as much as possible. Of course a lot of senseis will have their own tweaks, but the meat ans the potatoes are the same The same tatami as our Dojo also!

My sensei is a former Olympian and national referee, and when we were going over newaza yesterday he said it was ok to just grab a leg, pull it out (if uke is turtling), and flip them to their side or back lol. Just don't grab the inside of the pant leg.

This looks amazing, I have to try this next time! Hopefully, I don't forget this.

Hey shintaro, I've been seeing judokas practice against the wall like some sort of uchikomi. Can you talk about that and maybe how it'll help?

Using the belt to lift the hips looks so disrespectful 😂

It works so good though. Learned it as white belt and it's been my go to since

At my Judo school we lift the hips, then dive one leg under and roll to that side; you can pull the opponent all thr way over and ends in a side hold.

I was taught this as well, within the first month. Also, learning to flip them onto their back using the belt and gi @@madjackmadjack

so in that five seconds the bottom guy just has to lie there? can't he go for a trip or tripod sweep or something?
@tedokuzumi9070 Жыл бұрын
But your chances of trip / sweep working are low, and the ref is unlikely to stop the action if you are actively fighting back. You are hoping the ref stands you both back up after 5 seconds.

This is specifically for judo, where opponents will often look to go belly-down and just stall there, because it's safe from most submissions and eventually the referee calls for a stand-up. I'm not a fan of that habit myself, but it is what it is.
