I have the previous gen... it was great at first but they keep screwing up with OS updates. The last update completely bricked Android Auto for me; notifications are delayed, especially for some chat apps like WhatsApp or e-mails; bluetooth has trouble connecting sometimes, and it doesn't start playing music when bluetooth connects despite that setting being turned on; IFTTT just straight up doesn't work... the list goes on. I love the full-body screen, under-screen fingerprint sensor, and the large battery, but man the issues keep piling up. Also I'm not sure, but it feels like the screen keeps getting dimmer as it gets older, it used to be fine at 50% in a normal lit room but now I have to put it to 70%, and when in the car even at 100% it doesn't seem bright enough, and it's less than 2 years old!

Ah damn i have the redmagic 9 pro... Been using it january, Its literally been nearly perfect. Charges in a 20 minutes, lasts a day and a half, performance is incredible, it never lags. Software is really clean. The form factor is actually really nice wnd solid. Cant recommend this series enough.

Note: after a month with my Red magic 9 (not the S pro). I am loving the phones power. Don't buy their controller attachment buy a Razer kishi v2 (Version 1 dose not fit) Its much better then the RED magic version. After fully switching I am incredibly happy. My Samsung NOTE 9 is still working after being rebuilt 3-4 times. But I am very happy with Red Magic. Thanks for the great review.

The camera bump has it’s uses, specially for gamers who play in landscape. You have something that tells you, you’re on the camera and you should stop touching it to reduce the chances of having dirty lenses when you need to snap a photo or worse scratching it. Specially on cheaper phones with lesser quality cameras, you don’t want to lessen the quality of your shots with fingerprints.

Camera bump reminds me of my old sony Z5 Premium, mainly because it was my last phone without the stupid bump thats prone to damage. Dont get me wrong, i like that many phones separate the flash front glass from the camera front glass, but so many others just put it in with the camera bump and default the only purpose i see for the camera bump other than giving people smaller batteries.

The 13 pro can do medium 120 because of the faster refresh rate. Although the only devices that can do more than medium graphics at 120 fps are M1, M2, and M4 iPad Pro’s. i purchased the Red Magic 8 Pro last year and unfortunately this phone is riddled with software bugs, it's insane. Gaming phone? Any game that i boot stutters for the 1st 30 seconds. Translations are hit or miss and some settings just refuse to apply. F.e. if you set your alarm to start at low volume and then increase but afterwards change the volume of the alarm, the settings will say it's increasing it over time but the alarm just starts at full blast. it supports 120Hz but automatically switches to 60Hz for most apps & games (doesn't tell you tho). if i dont use an app for 2 days, i don't get notifications for it anymore even though the settings say that notifications are enabled no matter how long i dont use an app. The only thing their support does is suggest that you reset the device. i've done this about 4-5 times now. It didn't fix anything and every time it's unnecessary work to set up everything again. The only other option is to send it back. To china. So it will probably only take a few months to go through the whole return process. During that time you'll have to buy another phone anyway if you don't have one lying around. Unfortunately this phone sounds good but doesn't work (properly)

I have a 9s pro, I'm not sure if your issue is the same but here goes. I thought 120hz being borked was app-related too, but it turns out it is related to the brightness of the display. Below a certain brightness, 120hz will not work by default. To fix this, enable developer mode and look for an option related to this in the developer options.

I also considered that i might just have a broken one but i never sent it in since it worked just well enough so i dont HAVE TO buy another phone immedeately. I wrote it off as a bad purchase and now i have to live with it for a while. My reason to buy was bc it was the cheapest phone with a snapdragon 8 gen 2 so it should carry me for a while. I didn't have the funds to spend another 300-400€ for a phone just so i can bridge the gap while this one is being checked/repaired. Might've just gotten a galaxy S Ultra at that point. Now that the new CMF phone is low budget and usable, i might either buy that or wait for a potential deal for the Z Flip 6 during black friday. I do believe that the results of your tests for the different versions of this phone are correct. My phone works too but for whatever reason, only for a month. I don't know why but everytime i reset the phone, software bugs start creeping in after that. I doubt you guys have enough time for long term tests like that ^^

Been using my redmagic 8 pro since it came out i preordered it. Honestly been happy with the performance and durability... Definitely feel like it will last me longer than my previous phone. And being a asian company phone finding parts online is quite cheap. My last phone i had was a note 8 which used it all the way up till my redmagic 8pro showed up copied the data over reset the phone and turned it off with its cracked screen and separating frame held together by superglue in a drawer witg my in pieces note 3 and cracked screen S3. Nicest thing is that redmagic lets you unlock the boot loader (voids the warranty) but its just an option thats allowed its your device.wait till warranty is over and then you can unlock the boot loader with a button and do what you wanna do with it. Samsung disables the camera

I like camera bumps, i use my phone in work, and often leave it on uneven or dirty surfaces. So only thing that gets scratches is camera bump edge and botom phone edge. It's easier to handle it correctly, I can grab and rotate my, phone correct way, witchout looking. Also its harder do drop it when your hands are slippery.
