1:40 Their ram booster feature is just swap, a standard feature of linux (and other operating systems) and I'm guessing a lot of phones have that without advertising it. Samsung also have that feature. It seems like a lot of features get mentioned in videos about other phones that sound like something new or special but it's often something other manufacturers have as well

I've only ever seen that feature advertised on budget phones so that they can put "4 GB of RAM" on the package when in reality it only has 2 GB.

". . . just swap . . ." is the correct take. Long ago, I read somewhere (gasps, the Internet) that iPhones were doing this and very elegantly, which is why iPhones generally sport lower RAM amounts.

Could be different in North America or Europe, I've no idea how the youth use their selfie cameras outside where I live.

I suspect that Nothing is saying the 2a is a developer only item because it's effectively incompatible with 5G networks in the US. It only supports one band of 5G of T-Mobile's network (the mid band) and that's it. The manufacturer says "don't use this on Verizon" at all. Since it's not really compatible with much, I don't think they wanted to deal with the headache of returns for people who won't read the limitations and having a dev kit makes it painfully obvious not to buy unless you know what you're up against.

Most of the time if not during the whole time you had the screen recording turned on. Whether it was intentional or not, it doesn't help performance and also may be the reason for the slow shutter speed as it utilizes the CPU/Chipset as well.

I'm hoping Nothing can get carriet spottiness worked out on their phones for the US market because I think a lot of people chomping at the bit to jump ship from Apple would absolutely love the device and especially its widget-heavy OS. While the Nothing 2a technically works on all of the main providers in a vast majority of their service areas, the near-total lack of 5G and CDMA support for rural areas makes it a hard sell for the outdoorsy or on-the-move type of user-also apparently you need to have your device registered with Verizon for it to even be able to access service, so that's a fun one.

Sorry semi off topic but semi valid… TY Linus and LTT gang for enabling Picture in Picture mode for non-YT premium watchers on your videos. It’s been like this for a few weeks now and only for your videos. Very handy… until the YT adverts play which breaks the experience and can only be fixed with closing and re-opening the YT app again. Either way is handy to check out links while watching your videos in a corner (so stupid they lock a phone feature behind a paywall and the rest of KZbin doesn’t allow this - if you didn’t enable this… then I guess YT are testing it with your channel and now you know!)

As an owner of a Nothing Phone 1 I can say they are just trash. The cameras are dire, often not even worth taking the shot and I am on the latest OS, same as the 2a has and the audio is a major issue. Bluetooth always cuts out and often just dips the volume, then you have to press ok to increase the volume past a limiter... every couple of days. Then the random restarts, lock ups, the way the face unlock rarely works... I am really over novelty phones.
