Cornelius "Backhand" Jackson was an anti-feminist men's rights activist who was willing to do what needed to be done to get women back in the kitchen once and for all.
From your lips to his fist, this standout hit makes you wanna fist bump in more ways than one.
Needless to say "Don't Test Me B*tch" was ahead of its time but now considered classic, even prophetic.
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
All you do is talk talk talk
But you never listen (can you hear me!)
Get your ass back in the kitchen
And make me some chicken
[Turnaround]
Don't test me bitch
(Don't test me bitch)
[Verse 2]
My pimp hand is strong
And my patience is thin (so thin)
Quit all your bitchen,
Get back in the kitchen (I'm hungry)
[Turnaround]
Don't test me bitch
(Don't test me bitch)
[Chorus]
Do not test me bitch
I will use my fist
I will smack your lip
I will bust your shit
[Bridge]
Talk back one more time (just one more time)
And this will be the scene of a crime
[End]
Try me bitch
I dare you
(double dare you bitch)

Born in 1934 to Ulysses "Smacks" Jackson and Winifred Jackson, Cornelius "Backhand" Jackson emerged from the hardscrabble life of a sharecropper's son just outside of Isola, Mississippi. Growing up with seven siblings in extreme poverty, Jackson's early life was a testament to his resilience and determination. At 18, Jackson moved to Detroit, seeking better opportunities. Struggling to find work, he managed to secure the support of seven dedicated young women who generously assisted him with his bills and living expenses. This entrepreneurial spirit foreshadowed his future success. In 1960, Jackson's big break came when a Motown Records agent overheard him singing while counting money given to him by one of his benefactors. His talent was undeniable, and he was quickly signed to the fledgling label. Jackson's deep, versatile voice soon became known through hits such as "Stop Crying (Gonna Give You Something to Cry About)," "Nothing I Hadn't Told Her Twice," "I'm Right Here (The Cops Are A Mile Away)," "Beat That Baby Outta You," and the iconic "Don't Test Me Bitch." Jackson's impressive physical presence was as much a part of his image as his music. Standing at a towering 8'4" and weighing 780 pounds, his 150-pound hands were the stuff of legend. His muscular physique, reportedly sculpted by simply moving his gigantic hands, and his penchant for finely tailored suits and flashy jewelry made him a striking figure. In addition to his musical career, Jackson helped launch the all-female R&B/Soul group "The Blackeyes." He married their lead singer, Lorna Jenkins, after a tragic "fell down some stairs" accident claimed the life of his then-current wife. His personal life was marred by similar tragedies, with three wives succumbing to stair-related accidents and another perishing in a bizarre incident involving a door. His third wife, Lorna "Purple Cheek" Jenkins, and her identical twin were mysteriously murdered, a case that remains unsolved. Despite these personal setbacks, Jackson's influence in the music industry was profound. His career began to wane in the early 70s, but he pivoted to a successful role as a music producer. He discovered and mentored talents like his nephew, Dennis "Diamond Hands" Reynolds, who bore a striking resemblance to a younger Jackson. Jackson's legacy extended to a cadre of influential proteges, including Ike Turner. Although older than Jackson, Ike credited him with imparting invaluable lessons about business and romance. Tina Turner once remarked, "Everything Ike was, Cornelius was a hundred times more." Jackson's influence continued through the careers of artists like Tommy Lee, Chris Brown, R. Kelly, Bobby Brown, and P. Diddy. His friendships extended beyond the music industry, with connections to O.J. Simpson, Bill Cosby, Claus von Bulow, and Congressman Gary Condit. Producer Harvey Weinstein, a former close friend, eventually distanced himself from Jackson, citing discomfort with his business practices and attitudes toward women. Tragically, Jackson's life ended in 2007 in a freak accident. His 24-year-old wife, rapper and R&B sensation Konkushun (Tanisha Williams), accidentally shot him in the back of the head while cleaning one of his many guns as he slept in their Malibu home. Cornelius "Backhand" Jackson's life was a tumultuous blend of triumph and tragedy. His towering presence and undeniable talent left an indelible mark on the music world, making him a complex, unforgettable figure in Motown history.

Have you heard gangsta rap? It still exists and you can still hear it. This is tame by comparison.

My grandpa would put this on after a long days work at the auto repair shop. I never understood why as soon as this song came on my granny would get a pep in her step and head to the kitchen. Childhood memories ♥️

Didn’t Curtis Mayfield get really angry and claim this song was his back in the 70s? I think I remember the copyright being in court for a really long time

The key is, absolutely not to ever, ever, ever get involved with a woman who makes to you want to play her this song... Even knowing that women absolutely cannot live without totally senseless drama, force them to find it elsewhere!

Pimp Records was a small but highly influential label back in the 70s. It was the launching pad for future superstars like Mike the Mook, The Happening Hos, and too many others to name. Sadly, the label went defunct in 1977, when it was bought by Sony, which went on to destroy all of its masters. Fortunately, some songs have been faithfully recreated by the modern miracle known as AI so that future generations can enjoy the genius that was Pimp.

In 1971, my grandfather returned home from Vietnam. He was always going to yard sales and pawn shops, and one day he came home with this record. He and my grandmother would play this while slow dancing on a Saturday night. Beautiful song ❤
