It is not necessary to tighten your shoulder straps down on a DIR harness. Also see the video we did on correct DIR harness setup.

Good video. Just proved that if you have a harness with buckles and one “mysteriously” fails, the rig will stay in place just like your strapless demo. I’ve been pointing that out for years.

Great video! Knowing this will save me countless hours of wrestling my harness into submission before and after each dive. Not always easy when wearing a drysuit and a thick underlayer.

Was wanting to know if you could do the same thing with a set of LP 108’s on your back? Just curious. That is what I dive when I am not with students. Thanks for all of your videos. Great stuff. Have a great day!

I have learned a great deal from you guys. I have been diving since 1994. Received my Dive Master certification in 1999. I love teaching new divers and helping them love the sport as much as I do. I would like to give a huge shout out to Columbus Scuba, Inc. in Columbus, Ohio. They have established an amazing rapport with all of their staff, students and customers. Andy and Melissa are doing amazing things here. I am proud to be a part of that diving family. Thanks for you information and videos!

I'll have to test how tight my shoulder straps are during my next dive. May I ask, how tight should the waist strap should be? And when you have your kit on on dry land should the weight be primarily on your shoulders or waist?

I would love to have a backplate and wing set up! But I am not sure how to go about it. I’m confused as far as how to set up the necessary weight. I normally dive a five mill suit, aluminum 80 tank, jacket BCD, and use 15 pounds of weight in freshwater. I noticed you didn’t have any weight on your harness. Where would I begin? SS back plate with a steel tank? Any help would be appreciated.

I wonder how much gas was in the cylinder when this was taken.
