blakebymharris Wow! Whether it's hers or not that is an invasion of privacy. A lot of White women don't like having their hair touched because they said it makes them feel like a dog. There is no way you just come up to people you don't know and touch them - their hair included!!!! To me that's my personal space weave or weaveless!

French Vanilla I agree. A stranger can not just walk up and touch my hair, natural or not. People I'm close to, I don't trip. Then again, people I'm close to have the decency to ask first. Strangers, never, I don't know where your hands have been. Everybody don't know about that soap and water and/or sanitizer. LOL. Just keepin it Real.

The world of Daniela and Dariana There’s a little concept called personal boundaries, which you clearly do not understand. Regardless of intent or culture, you are not entitled to anyone else’s body. So they absolutely have a right to be rude if it comes down to it. Don’t touch people without permission.

@B.Latriece

Exactly if most took the time on our hair because we have good, fragile hair, then our hair would be just as long. Black women has really good hair it takes more time to keep it healthy so that it can grow. its how society has conditioned us to how we are "suppose" to treat our hair and its very different and special than most. I LOVE OUR HAIR lol

17iamhere and I almost want to say it really doesn't take a whole lot to make it grow our hair grows just as fast as anybody else like you said it is fragile so it does break off if you don't pay careful attention to our ends but even still I neglect my hair at times and it still grows it was only when I had a relaxer trying so hard to be somebody I wasn't that my hair would not grow and now that I think about it under those conditions nobody's here would grow a little white woman put a relaxer on her hair every 8 weeks and then try to flat iron it every week on top of it and then bleach it cuz she wants a new color she be more bald than I ever was

It's so annoying, but I do understand that they never see our real before even our own black people, thinking that it wasn't possible. But when you think about it, the whole time our hair was growing, but we just perm it and then say it never grow, but we basically kill whenever it does. When you're girl women and go natural there's a certain confidence and freedom that comes with it, specially when you wear it out a lot. Sometimes I miss my hair after putting it in braids a week later. It's sad that as black people, we cannot be ourselves and people will not understand the big deal, but it is a big deal.

As a DARK skinned girl with curly wavy long hair you would be amazed at the crazy things people say and do to me... I have been told that I must have a perm, relaxer, texturizer or some chemical service. Or I can't be ALL black? Or I must be ALL BLACK cuz I'm too DARK to be mixed. All these things are usually said while the unknown assailant is elbow deep in my hair....Simultaneously having a hairgasm and checking for tracks.....Had a manager once (white with locks) who patted me like a damn dog every time she saw me. So one day I bit her....She was like WTF? I said Hey sometimes u pet something without the owners permission u get bit. She got it......lol....Reach One Teach One!!!

@tamaras2997 8 жыл бұрын
No sweetie. You said tomato, I said oranges. Two different things. Don't be defensive, i'm just trying to spread correct messages, not ignorance. Yes management is "subjective" but you saying that something can be manageable for me and not for you is the same thing as saying, "i'm too lazy to take the time to find a way to manage my hair." With time and patience, anything is manageable as long as someone with the same hair texture can manage it too.
@kmeeks92987
@kmeeks92987 8 жыл бұрын
Tamara S im not defensive. And I'm in no way, shape, or form ignorant. You're knowledge of hair is clearly not needed here because my hair is very manageable. So take your "i can do it" mother of the earth ass some where else. The only hair I'm concerned about is my own. I don't let people touch my hair and i dont put my hands in others' hair, PERIOD! So go teach a hair class to people who want to hear what you have to say. Be blessed!

I have lived in South Korea for almost 4 years and I have natural hair. People always want to touch my hair and not ask. When I first got here I didn't mind, but then I start to feel like a "pet at the zoo". So now, when they go to touch my hair without asking, I pull away so quick. And another thing that kills me is when Koreans try to tell ME what I should do with MY hair. I say to myself, they have lost their mind.

ZosiaSamosiaOo I'm sensitive because I said that Africans do not tell white people what to do with their hair? Is that a false statement? She said the South Koreans told her what she should do to her hair and since you decided to compare her staying in South Korea to White people coming to Africa, I decided to make that known to you. As she stated in her comment, the thing that aggravates her the most is when the south Koreans try to tell her what to do with her hair. Oh, and I love how you generalize Africa like it's a country. And I do leave my house Thank you. As a matter of fact, I left my country.

you are a smart girl. that is what I have been saying all along.it is only recently that a lot us are proudly wearing our hair natural so other races are just now discovering our hair. we have been hiding our hair under straight wigs and wavy wigs for so long.IF white woman wore Afro wigs all the time us too wouldn't be familiar with white peopl hair but they mostly wear their own hair and when they use extensions they wear something that looks like their own hair.

I think its bullshit that black women say my hair is too course, hard or difficult to deal with and manage. News flash ladies, you need to put water in your hair for moisture everyday. Water and oils are afros best friend. And yes your afro hair will have shrinkage it's a good thing! Also deep condition your hair as needed and seal ends with oils. Also rinse conditioner with cold water to closed ends of hair. These tips help my hair grow longer, thicker, stronger, and shinier. Now I understand and know how to take care of my natural hair and I feel if more black women know how to take care of the hair, then it would not be so many black women wearing weaves. Because we are the only race with this type of coils hair texture and its beautiful.

Allthingsmindless143 You have to love your coils. There's nothing wrong with your tight coiled or kinky hair or naps for you. This is the problem with black women. They always want straight hair, like straight hair is better than what you have. I think weaves as a protective hair styles is bullshit too, because if that was true then people with weaves all will have healthy hair. And what you protecting if your hair is cover with someother hair and you never wear you own?
@iamkelsyk9455
@iamkelsyk9455 9 жыл бұрын
dcj5885 I'm talking about nappy to the point where you cant even get the comb through it. And since you want to start, White people have naturally thinner hair so they get weaves and clip ins too. They and the ones getting lip injections and changing the size of thing on their bodies so its them too.

I'm half black, but I was adopted and raised by my white grandparents. I love my mother to pieces but she had no clue how to manage my curls. My hair was straightened and relaxed to the point where I had to do "the big chop" in high school. My family always singled me out and teased because I never wanted to get my hair wet in the pool, or if I'd just decide to wear it curly one day I'd be so embarrassed from all the name calling, I'd straighten it immediately. Now Im twenty two and I love my curls. They're soft and loose and now that I'm an adult, I know there are fun ways to style my natural hair and I know which products to use. I see these little girls, (I'm talking as young as four and five years old) either with a white mother who isn't educated on how to manage their hair, or a black mother who hates her own hair so she fries her child's head as well. I want to shake them and tell them to leave it the hell alone. It's beautiful.

I'm latina. As a person with naturally thick straight hair, I have longed for curls like Tamara's. I think her hair looks amazing. In fact, I loved other people's hair more than mine because it is different. I'm not saying I hate mine at all, I just find it boring. lol

Omg!!! Thank you for this click. Im black and use to work as a cashier in a predominantly white neighborhood and the customers were fascinated by my hair. They gave compliments, they wanted to touch, it. I remember I read an article about black women hair during segregation. Men of all races were so fascinated with admiration with the styles we wore during that time that authorities were legally trying legally band us from doing our hair certain ways

I hate when people put their hands in my hair especially the ones that dont ask permission. I sat down detangling my hair for hours after people kept putting their hands in my hair, pulling it, doing the little shaggy thing you know playing with it. I started to cry because I had to cut a chunk out that had a ball. They were like "no way thats your real hair". Now when people criticise the wigs and the weave and say they prefer my real hair i just laugh. They dont know the struggle

I love this discussion. I went natural in 2008. I have not had a relaxer since the summer of 2007. That is almost 10 years. I love my natural hair. Tamera's hair is very cute. If you want to go natural, what is stopping you? I say just embrace your natural hair and you can love it as well. It is a little on the high maintenance side, but it is so worth it!

Loni, honey, I love you, but you need to stop generalizing black women's hair experience. I wear my NATURAL hair proudly, and have never touched a weave or a wig. Though if others choose that path that's fine too.

aintnobodygottimefadat yes she did. people touching a black person's hair and somebody getting their hair touched by someone who is not black are not the same thing. It happens way too much. Loni hair is straight so it is different she can not relate.😒

I'm not black but I've had people touching my curly hair without asking since i was a kid, it really is the most annoying feeling in the world. when I was 7 I was at church and I felt someone stroking my hair, i turned around and saw a woman telling another woman "she has such a great hair" like, hello? lady? I'm a human being, u can't just touch me and discuss it with your friend like I'm not there.
