In the U.S. the culture is to blame the victim. The culture is to put the responsibility on the victim. Cheating, and how to stop it is the problem of the person who cheats. NOT the person who was cheated on.

I get what Tamar was saying. We tend to blame the one cheated on instead of the cheater for causing the person to stray. Especially, if we are the ones cheated on, usually our first instinct is to think "What did I do wrong". But we shouldn't! If someone wants to cheat, they will. It has nothing to do with you and what you are doing or not doing, its on them. The problem is with the cheater, not with the person being cheated on. If you aren't happy in a relationship then bounce. why cheat.

@peanutjelly7278 жыл бұрын
i'm sorry, but that sounds why too much like making excuses for a cheater. if you have a problem with the way someone is treating you in a relationship, you should either tell the person how you feel or just leave. There is NO excuse for cheating...EVER. Also, it's all up to interpretation what constitutes "mean" behavior. The guy may think his significant other is being mean, but she might disagree. He might be leaving messes all over the house, not picking up after himself, not doing the fair share of housework. if she speaks up for herself by addressing it again and again, he might interpret that as nagging or her being "mean." What else is she supposed to do? Do you think he's justified in cheating on her in this situation because she's being "mean" to him? People are way too comfortable blaming a woman for a man's actions.

Even though I almost always agree with her and I think Jeannie was the best one in how she gave her opinion (waiting for her turn instead of yelling over everybody). But I'm more inclined to agree with Tamar (never thought I'd say that). I know for a fact that most cheaters are of a cheating type. The cheating Jeannie is describing where the cheater is purely reacting to abuse from the other partner is like less than 1%. Most cheaters would cheat as soon as an attractive situation presents itself, and then blame the partner. Because the person Jeannie is describing, if they are indeed a regular good person, would just be more inclined to end the relationship than to cheat. They'd feel torn down by their partner and then they'd realise there are better options and date them. Breaking up with someone takes 5 seconds. Especially if they are making you feel bad all the time. Most cheaters however, just couldn't be stopped. They'd get bored eventually. They'd get in some situation with someone flirting with them and that'd be enough to make it happen. All most cheaters need is an opportunity. The "reason" they can make up afterwards.

I'm gonna have to disagree with Adrienne about catering to your man when she said "if you don't do it, someone else will" (using it as incentive to stop your man from cheating) , I feel that if my man likes something that is out of my comfort zone to keep him interested, then I'm gonna have to say 'dueces' and keep it moving. I'm not about to forfeit my happiness to make others feel happy. Cause as Loni and Tamar said, if he's gonna cheat, he's gonna cheat😕
@jaykitad35728 жыл бұрын
Also, I'd really like to know what Tamara meant by "giving your man respect" if anyone has answers❔
@jaykitad35728 жыл бұрын
One last thing, I agree with Tamar, about the reason that men cheat. Personally, it is not my job to build up a man's ego/self esteem or make him feel like a "man". That is something he needs to workout on his own with a helpful person called a therapist. Because how is he going to successfully be in a relationship when he relies on others to build his self confidence in his 'manhood? Also this just sounds like victim blaming, instead of blaming the cheater your blaming the victim saying that it's their fault for not stroking their ego enough or that they could have done better to prevent it. Idk man maybe I'm just not seeing the other side, but then again, there is no excuse for cheating.

+Jay Kitad Simply put: Allow the natural role/position of a man to take place. Meaning allow him to lead, respect and value what he brings to the table.(provider,protection sound mind etc..) Treat him how you would want to be treated. Men place a enormous about of value on being respected not just in marriage but in life.
@TheRetroWoman808 жыл бұрын
That's the way, indeed. All day, everyday!!
@drisodreamyy92318 жыл бұрын
+Jay Kitad but the thing isn't that you're building him up because he can't do it himself it's more of a you love someone and you're putting your energy into loving and supporting that person with any and everything you can because when you give someone your heart you're vulnerable to that person. Your emotions are tied to that person and you want to feel safe and secure with them at all times , I wholeheartedly think couples should lift each other up to their highest potential and want the absolute best for them. If he has a dream support him don't tell him hey that's stupid and it'll never work and beat him down and emasculate him because he's not say making as much as your friends husband or he doesn't do things others or yourself thinks he should , nurture the things he does offer and that'll end up being better for the both of you he'll want to be better for the both of you because you see so much in him and he wants you to have the world.
@clarivellyssaguayo4708 жыл бұрын
I don't know why ppl are criticizing Tamar when her opinion is absolutely rt. If a man wants to cheat he will cheat anyways. You are just becoming his maid by doing everything he wants just to "please" him. A relationship should be mutual by pleasing and respecting each other and not taking advantage of a person or kissing his ass just to keep him. Ppl should learn to love each other with loyalty and respect in order to have a successful relationship.

She is right but I also think there is a point to treating him right. I mean, of course you should be kind, loving, attentive, etc to him...he's your husband, not your enemy, right? And of course vice versa. But here's the thing, I don't think everyone is always with the right person. As an example, my uncle is a very good, hardworking family man. He's not very affectionate or talkative, but I think that's partly cultural. Anyway, his wife is a total nightmare. She doesn't respect my grandmother, she's loud and obnoxious and rude, etc, I can only imagine how she is at home with him...and she also abused me when I was a small child, so yeah I'm extremely biased against her, but someone like that I wouldn't be surprised or offended if my uncle has cheated on her. He's such a good guy though that I doubt he has. Obviously my example is extreme, but I think it can be relevant sometimes. If you have a good man, be sweet and attentive to him and love him and respect him. He should do the same. Yes, he could still cheat on you anyway, but at that point he has no real good "excuse". He's just an ass and you're better off without him.... which really, in my opinion, all cheaters are, but sometimes they fall into it when the marriage is strained for a long time instead of having the courage to address the issues and either try to work it out or leave. And I'm sorry my comment is so long, I think lately I've been using captive audiences as mini therapy sessions 😬

I think what Adrienne is trying to say here is not just to be nice, shes saying, in essence, dont be a SHREW. No one wants to be arouvd some shrill overbearing harpie who only cuts them down and is always argumentative, much less be in a marriage or other comitted relationship with them. Additionally, how about picking a man with character who is respectful of his relationship, partner, and himself enough to not need to cheat?There are men out there, for example, who believe in God's Covenant enough to do the right thing in holy matrimony because they simply want to lead a Godly life for His glory and His alone. It can be done. I see it every day. If it doesn't hapoen for you or those sround you, then examine the character and integrity of all involved.

Unfortunately I've seen plenty of women who are just "B's" period...guys, too. Some people simply just have terrible communication skills, and think bullying over overwhelming any given situation is the key to life. Life can be a lot simpler when you choose a person who simply "fits" you, and together you choose to work as a team and respect each other. I've seen the Vince & Tamar show, and all that strife and infighting between them and the family members raises my blood pressure. Life really can be a lot smoother...if you WANT it to.

Tamera and Tamar are entitled to their own opinion. Personally, I feel that the agreement that Adrienne and Jeannie have is based upon a superficial friendship. In this particular clip Jeanie is only agreeing with Adrienne because her husband is probably cheating on her. Honestly, Jeanie doesn't come across as a woman that has married the man that she's fallen in love with. That explains why she felt the need to mention the race of her husband every chance she got. She married for status. I'm sure he has someone on the side. Adrienne is a complete a kiss ass. I don't why she makes my skin crawl. I believe it's because she's sooooo fake on 'The Real'. It's annoying to watch her, Tamar and Jeanie.

A man and a coworker don't just wind up in a hotel room together there's a period before that where the 2 realize they're getting to close and if the man is happy, respected, and feels like a man in his relationship he's more likely to shut it down then and not move forward and cross any more lines.

More likely. But there are NO guarantees. It's the culture in America to blame the victim. To put the RESPONSIBILITY on the victim. She got raped.....what was she wearing? She got slapped....what did she say to provoke him? Cheating is often a pattern of behavior. Cheating is often a symptom of a deeper, underlying issue. It is NEVER the other persons fault. Your actions are yours and yours alone.

@@LevityBrevity I agree everyone is responsible for their actions and their actions alone not another person's however we kid ourselves to think that the way we act doesn't have an influence on those we are close to. Every moment you have with a loved one either brings you closer together or farther apart

@@smeak9246 We can agree to disagree. My final word is I hope ALL humans learn to take responsibility for themselves and their actions. Self control begins with the SELF. "Life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it" No one could ever turn me into a cheater. When you have integrity, when you know yourself and respect yourself, cheating just isn't an option. It has NoTHInG to do with anyone else's behavior, it is intrinsic.

There's a lot of women talking about relationships and dishing out advice who don't even know they're being cheated on......

I 100% agree with Tamar no woman or man for that matter should be having to think about how to get their spouse to not cheat on them, that is not a normal thing, which is why you should know who you are marrying inside amd out cause that's not something you should have to worry about and if its gonna happen its gonna happen there's nothing you can do or should do about it.

I agree with everything Jeannie said.

It doesn't matter WHAT you do, if a man wants to cheat, he's going to do so. You can be the perfect partner and still get the short end of the stick. I personally think there is NO excuse for cheating.

This was so good. Loni ..was shot on really. It's important to not let women think it's always their fault cuz the man cheated.

Yes Jeannie! She always has great advice.

It's not anyone's responsibility to make sure their partner doesn't cheat on them! I think that's the point that Loni and Tamar and Tamera were trying to make. However, it's your responsibility in a relationship (especially a marriage) to make sure that you do not cheat on them! And I think that's the point that Jeannie was making. So I agree with them, but Adrienne makes no sense to me. First she's saying to treat him nicely all the time and he won't cheat on you, and then she's agreeing with everyone who says that a person will cheat if they want to cheat... okay A
