@@nahrikkon I've actually tried out all the casting weapons in DkS3 and the one that ended up being the most consistent and strong was...the Cleric's Candlestick (baffled me). Though that's more due to straight sword moveset power rather than its own merits, though what i found really cool is that it has its own super R1+R1+R2 combo but rather than the R2 being a thrust, it can be a Soul Greatsword or Dark Edge, depending on how your opponent is rolling. Just wish that the Weapon Art wasn't a joke and the actual weapon had a less stupid aesthetic to it.

He said one thing in his video that made me wonder if he was trolling. He said something like "im obsessed with dark souls pvp" but he stopped playing ds3 in like 2016 or 2017 because he didn't like it anymore and refused to go back to it during early days when he was getting pressure from his community. So saying he's obsessed with dark souls pvp when he hasn't played it (to my knowledge) since dlc2 (and only did a pve playthrough of Ringed City) sounded really odd. I'm probably reading into it too much, he sounded genuinely excited about the game, but Scott is one to troll. He also did a totally straight face, and really convincing review of patch notes for DBD, that he weren't real, that he wrote himself.

I love to see flashsword getting love in this video, but I have to mention something. The extra hitstun on flash sword comes from a special hitbox on the hand that does medium instead of dagger hitstun. This allows you to combo into a variety of different attacks-- anything about the speed of a 1H great axe.
@lepistanuda3 жыл бұрын

Aw I didn't expect to be in this!! You highlighted like all the things the spear does well, which obviously my take on the build ignores in favour of being weird and flashy! One thing worth mentioning too though is the little Gimmick tech where you can transfer the poise from unfaltering prayer lightning stake onto any spell if you queue it immediately after, which makes the lightning stake > dark edge/ old moonlight/ soul greatsword pretty deadly if they try to contest (you can also charge old moonlight with poise if you want to be extra about it). Also one thing I noticed you doing was lots of block buffered running attacks, which I think - especially with flashsword - are the bread and butter of getting use out of the low damage, low range nature of the GRS and gives it a boon that casters often lack in the form of efficient chasedowns. I also reckon its worth noting that a properly specced GRS build will do criminal amounts of dark damage which give you access to forms of burst that greatly help balance the lack of guaranteed burst damage on this build I.E. a strong offhand (I use offhand Thrall axe, which can be used to punish roll-ins and rush-ins that mage play encourages from your opponent) and chaos infused crit tools - a second slot or hardswap to chaos rapier can very much turn the tides, and set you up for very cruel wake-ups like lightning stake or in your case soul greatsword. Super super good, and appreciate your buildmaking expertise and thoughtful use of off-meta weapons and playstyles always!
@lepistanuda3 жыл бұрын
Oh and something else to note that I discovered recently, this setup with offhand Dark Estoc and Flashsword is absolutely brutal, you have combos like running flashsword > l2, wait for roll l2 > r1 etc. etc. Like just really mean to fight

Meanwhile one of my early invasion builds was a golden ritual spear one. It was really similar to your 125 build. I didn't realize the spear was "bad" at the time, my main line of thinking was I could be a mage with lightning urns. Str/dex/hollow builds have decent-good stats for firebombs, a normal faith build has that but better with lightning urns, while Int builds don't have access to that option at all. I wasn't good at the time but the build functioned with the same gameplan as your did. Golden Ritual Spear was a lot of fun!
