This city is definitely one of best places to visit in Malta. Malta is a tiny country and it's easy to see most of the island in one short visit but this is one place you must not miss if you are planning a trip to Malta.
Today it is famous as a Game of Thrones filming location so if you are Game of Thrones fan it is a must visit. Enter this incredible city crossing a bridge over the former moat and as you step through the huge gates into the fortified city you will feel like you are transported into the Game of Thrones.
Mdina, also known as the Silent City, Città Vecchia (Old City) and Città Notabile (Notable City), served as the countries capital city during medieval times and as we wander through the streets here we do indeed feel like we have stepped back in time.
Don't visit Malta without going to Mdina.
