I'm heading back for my 5th trip to Malta in just 3 weeks and I can't wait. It's such a great country. I love the people, the food, the architecture, absolutely everything. The churches are so beautiful they've brought tears to my eyes. I've made friends with the locals who are very loud, want to know everything about you, and love to have a chat. I get a 1-week bus pass for 21 euros and the buses are frequent and go everywhere you need to go. I stay in St Pauls Bay, this trip at the Mayflower Hotel. It's a quieter area of Malta, so you can head around and see all the sights amongst the hustle and bustle then head back to where things are quieter. I love the little casino in St Paul Bay for a bit of a gamble and cocktails in the evening. I love Bingo with all the Maltese nonnas. I love walking along the wide paths that hug the seaside. I love the Maltese balconies on the houses and all the saints by the front door of people's homes. As for the food, my favourite thing is beef olives. Gosh, I just can't wait.

5th trip!! wow. Would you recommend as a honeymoon destination?
@diane_44 ай бұрын
@@humbleprogress1226Yes. Though Malta is a small Island, it is beautiful and many places to go too. My fav place is the Ramla bay resort. Especially there panoramic Sea view suite. A much more quieter and relaxing place to stay rather than Sliema and Valletta ect. Also its just a 5 minute drive to catch the Gozo ferry to visit Gozo. Mdina is a nice romantic place to visit and dine there, also Rabat which is right near Mdina. Alot of restaurants and good food.

Just visted Malta for 3 days, and for the most part I enjoyed it, but I really didn't like the bus which I got to Mdina, it was very busy like you said at 4:08 and slow, and the seats felt really uncomfortable. And yes, Valletta (and Malta too) to me seemed to have a lot of British influence. Will definitely go again!

That's brilliant. My wife was, like you, born there and left when she was still an infant. I took her there as a surprise for her 40th birthday. At the airport she broke down in tears of joy when she realised where I was taking her to (I'd told her we were going to Barcelona). When we landed and the doors opened on the plane she said she felt like she was finally back home. I'd done some research beforehand and took her back to the flats that she had been born in whilst we were there. Been back a couple of times since and going again in a couple of weeks from now and we can't wait!

Don't go to Malta right now it's chaos like construction work everywhere, it appears countries overseas have been given a lot of money to renovate all the hotels or build new ones into B&Bs which no longer have kitchens, you have to at least book breakfast, and you have to rent a fridge now but Malta seems to be extra slow at doing things so it's going to take a few years to be complete.

Maltese, an official European language, is a unique mixture of semitic and latin . It is a semitic language, written in latin script, and owes it latin influence after the expulsion of all muslims from the island by the Normans in the early 11th centuary. Thereafter, Malta, up until 1964 , was under one or many European (hence influence on language) ruler/s.
