I also live in Broughty Ferry and we love to do USA road trips. It was great to hear about our home town from other travellers. We don't always visit things in our own back yard! The weather in April and May was really cold and yuk this year - it's usually much nicer. Iced Gems is where my friend and I usually have coffee but she had to close due to family circumstances. She will be missed. Enjoyed your video.

We loved Broughty Ferry! Thank you so much for watching! We were so sad to hear that Nicki had to close her shop. It truly breaks my heart. I heard that someone was supposed to take it over, so I'd love to get an update, because darn it, we would visit Broughty Ferry just to eat her scones (if she's sharing her recipes with the new owners). I am SO bummed I didn't ask for them while we were there-although they could be super secret recipes! It's encouraging to know that the cold weather was not typical; we really thought it would be a nicer time of year to visit. Regardless, we loved the promenade and had such good walks there. Thanks for letting us know, Erin. We share a lot about museums and art and really don't know if that's something our viewers even are interested in! Thank you so much for watching! I can't express how much we enjoyed our time in Broughty Ferry. We are so disappointed to hear about Iced Gems. 💔 Nicki had mentioned a few of the family issues she was dealing with, but what a loss for your entire community. We ate there every day (except Sundays when it was closed). It was the perfect place to start our day and definitely colored our experience in the best ways. In fact, I recently mentioned in La Famiglia, our new community forum, that one of the things I have been craving recently is a scone from Iced Gems. Your beautiful city deserves some beautiful weather! We definitely have plans to continue to explore more of Scotland. Its not a town really....its part of the City of Dundee
@FindingGinaMarie19 күн бұрын
While it’s a suburb of Dundee, it’s actually considered a town. It has its own mailing designation. It’s a Broughty Ferry address versus a Dundee address. I’m actually curious why some people from Dundee seem to want to focus on this. Is there some resentment about the pride that Broughty Ferry has? We lived for 30 years in a township called the Woodlands, which was north of Houston. Technically it was a part of Houston, but it was big enough in its own right and distinct enough that people didn’t split hairs unless they had some resentment. -Judy

Broughty ferry is part of Dundee, it’s not its own entity. Signs coming into it say welcome to Dundee (from the Angus end), it has Dundee area code (01382) it has a Dundee derived postcode (DD5), it’s covered by Dundee city council for all public sector stuff and the xplore dundee buses cover the route down there. The only people who want to class Broughty ferry as its own entity are the ones that live or lived there and want to think of themselves as being better than other Dundonians. If you visit Broughty ferry, you just visited a part of Dundee, no different than if you visited Dundee city centre, the west end, or any other scheme (ardler, kirkton, fintry, Douglas, etc) 👍🏻
