This is nuts! The sidewalk is almost empty and people are walking in what is really a street for bicycles . They won't walk in the actual street where the cars are because of fear of being injured. Maybe this is the key to getting these fools back onto the sidewalk . Start a vigilante group ,riding old steel frame bikes and just start running their asses over . Yes , i'm serious . If they try to sue just claim they stepped into the bike " street " before i could stop.

Agreed. Another issue is location of the bike path. Below Time Square it's between the sidewalk and the plaza area. Perhaps a better option would be to move the path btw the plaza area and traffic/parked cars like it is above Times Square. Maybe a "do not walk" icon in addition to the biker icon on the path is also needed.

Wasn't focusing on running lights but now that you ask I guess I can explain... you see at every red light I actually stepped off my bike and walked it across. At some times you'll notice I'm going pretty fast so I'm technically "Running" the red light. You'll notice all the other people "Jay" walking, jay walking is very common in NYC.

that road is designed to create problems : pedestrians on both side of the cycle lane. With venders on the right side At 0:54, you're running a red (or a very late amber) 1:26 I don't know why that idiot was standing there but that was a red for you anyway and you likely stopped on the pedestrian crossing 1:54 seems red for you 2:05 I don't know if that's a cycle lane : the marking faded away but there are benches on the side. Shit design again 2:53 you're cycling on a pedestrian crossing instead of walking the bike... The one thing I really support is the change in bicycle law regarding traffic lights and redefining the classification of a bicycle away from a "motorized vehicle". The city is kind of missed the point of bicycles when they put up traffic lights for bicycles. A red traffic light should be treated like a stop sign and all the laws pertaining to it. Bikers are effectively getting fined $120 for not walking their bike across a red light. That's not bike safety that's lazy law making.
