When I practice taekwondo. Colour Belts don't mean a thing to me. It's all about how much you want to achieve, I practice taekwondo for 2 main reasons. Stay fit and kick people asses.

This was a great video. This the perfect quote : “The Bushmen in the Kalahari Desert talk about the two "hungers". There is the Great Hunger and there is the Little Hunger. The Little Hunger wants food for the belly; but the Great Hunger, the greatest hunger of all, is the hunger for meaning... There is ultimately only one thing that makes human beings deeply and profoundly bitter, and that is to have thrust upon them a life without meaning. There is nothing wrong in searching for happiness. But of far more comfort to the soul is something greater than happiness or unhappiness, and that is meaning. Because meaning transfigures all. Once what you are doing has for you meaning, it is irrelevant whether you're happy or unhappy. You are content - you are not alone in your Spirit - you belong.” -Carl Jung

It's true, since many martial arts involve practices and beliefs that aren't compatible with a Christian worldview. It's not easy to find a school that teaches a discipline in a manner that a Christian can in good conscience take part in. I'm 2 1/2 years into kung fu now as well, and so pleased to have found a school I can greatly respect and train in without that concern.

Great video D'Mah, I really enjoy these videos that have a bit of moral advice sprinkled in, I found it really valuable getting to hear from other martial artists about what motivates them and how they balance things. Some very relatable and grounded perspectives here.

I love this video. I think it's very apparent that you guys are passionate in what you do, it's what keeps me coming back to your videos. (Isn't this the video that led to your news interview, Dmah?). Haha, I guess Daniel's a magician?? I found that windmills (break dancing) helped me a bit with my kicks (which are atrocious in some ways...). I don't know if that exactly counts as dancing, but I definitely agree with what Daniel said. I'll extend it by saying this: practicing different types of movement will make you better in all of them, and doing your best in your passion and what you love can make you do the best in what you may not love (i.e. work).

This was quite inspirational, thanks for this video! I whole-heartedly agree with your opinion of the "dull existence" of the 9-5, and that finding some way to still do the things that you're passionate about is very important. Thanks, guys!

His teacher must be from that era. Cool. Next video you should do a sparring video! Or teach us some self defense!

Trinity Definitely take up Taekwondo or Karate . Afterwards, start taking a tumbling class at your local gymnasium. Tricking is a combination of flips and kicks, so learn the basics first and foremost and just have fun!

Trinity hey dude I'm a tricker from Toronto and you are at the prime age to learn. yes you didn't take lessons and such, but the amount and the speed you'll learn things at this age by yourself will be very fast
@zachin7
@zachin7 7 жыл бұрын
Trinity Im 15 as well and I have been doing Taekwondo for about 3 years (High Brown). As a person who learned acrobatics while doing martial arts, I would have to recommend that practicing your kicks with formal training would be the first step in getting to know how to move your body in a crisp and smooth style. If you decide not to take classes, then it you will still be able to learn tricks just fine. Basically, tricking is a combination of martial arts and gymnastics tumbling, so learning at least some of its foundations first will help you a lot.
