At around 2:30 and there after you seem to be confused about the differences between watts and watt hours. With all due respect I’m only telling you this because you’re doing a good service, with the platform you have, helping people navigate to something better. However, it’s important to understand 1800w has nothing to do with how long a power bank will last. A common analogy about electricity is to think about water flow. If you have a bath tub full of water, the amount of water stored in the tub is your watt hours, the flow, is your watts. If there wasn’t a city water line around and you were using the tub of water to put out a fire. The bigger the fire the more flow you would need. A water gun like stream of water isn’t going to help put the fire out, even though you would be able to use it longer. You need a fire hose sized to drown it out. But the capacity of the water in the tub will depend how long you’re able to keep spraying water. So in the case of the 4patriots 1800w power bank, it’s possible to have a small tub with a large 3” drain. Or small battery pack with a large inverter that can output 1800w. The way it was marketed was completely wrong and takes advantage of ignorant consumers thinking they can power a house hold fridge for hours on end. In reality the 4pat 1800 was just a small power bank to keep your phones, laptops, tablets charged with the ABILITY to power a fridge, if you had to. Everyones refrigerator is different so none of them pull the same output. It really wasn’t even that long ago when the first power banks were coming out. They sized the inverter proportionally to the size of the battery. Many people thought these 300-500w inverters were useless because it came with a 120v plug but you couldn’t power something like a 1200w keurig coffee maker, or a toaster, or a fridge. So I think they were cramming larger inverters with small battery packs so they can market it as easy to carry, powers high drain appliances like coffee makers and fridges. Anyway, if you can’t find the watt hours listed easily in the specs, best bet is to stay away from it. Some other important things to consider when buying a solar generator is how are you going to charge it. Some, not so good ones, don’t let you charge while you’re using the unit to power something, that’s not any good. Some limit the solar charging to under 200w solar. You could run the battery down twice as fast as it takes to fill up. Some power banks come with multiple ways to charge but limit you to only 1 way at a time. I like that ecoflow has an ultra fast charging mode when plugged into ac power. But if your plugged into ac it shuts of dc charging. I have a small 800w propane generator I use to charge it up real quick and I can turn off the propane generator to conserve fuel. However, bluetti appears to come with slow charging speeds, but you can use all the charging outlets to charge from a car, from ac, from solar, and charge through the USB-C port all at the same time and be completely charged in under an hour from completely dead. Everyone has got to research before they buy anything.

Tony what solar generator do you have and what sizes do they make? I need one where I can charge it while it charging items inside my house. What do you think? Any advice
@Tony-sy7ed11 ай бұрын
Iv held off from getting something more ideal because the technology has been evolving rapidly since this video. I waiting to see where it settles, luckily hurricanes and other power outage events have been pretty calm lately. However i’am looking hard at some offerings from Bluetti. Currently I’m still using 3 different, older, 1800w power banks, and a couple 600w, instead of 1 bigger unit. My thought was if 1 unit failed I have 2 more to keep necessities going. I don’t know what your necessities are but at the very least, if your taking it seriously, I’d be looking at the Bluetti Ac300. It’s a large unit but still manageable to be portable, so you could take it on the road tailgating/camping. You basically buy it in sections because it’s modular. The inverter is a stand alone unit that puts out 3000w continuous and up to 6000w surge. There is no battery inside the inverter so you will need at least 1 b300 battery to use it, you could stack up to 4 batteries for a total of 12,300wh of storage. You could connect 2 sets in parallel to put out 240v. To take it on the road you could disconnect the inverter and 1 battery, leave the other 3 batteries home. The Ac500 would be better putting out 5000w continuous with the same modular stacking design. Up to 18,400wh of power storage if you were to max out the stacking batteries. Both the Ac300 and Ac500 have UPS capability. So you could keep the unit plugged into wall power and the power would bypass the battery and send power to something you never want to power off. Such as a desk top computer so you don’t lose a big report your working on, or you could have piece of mind if you’re on a road trip and you have your refrigerator plugged in to the unit. The house will lose power but you won’t have to rush home to keep your food cold. The Bluetti Ep800 and 900 is a more permanent whole home backup solution. Still modular as you can buy and stack batteries over time so you don’t have to buy 1 big unit now, but it’s not portable. With any of these examples I would size an appropriate ROOF top solar array so your not turning your yard into a mini solar farm.

I have one building that is exclusively powered by solar power, so I have an idea of what solar can and cannot do. My problem with solar for real emergencies is: can anyone guarantee bright sunny weather immediately following a major disaster? You can buy a premium inverter generator for far less than $2500, fill a couple of gas cans, and have several days of power on tap regardless of weather. Use your solar first, then have the genny as an ace up your sleeve if needed. No way I'd invest big bucks in a solar generator before buying a generator first. Just my opinion though!
@titanpreparedness Жыл бұрын
I can agree with that. I have some solar generators because i saw what happened in PR after Hurricane Maria- 1 year without power. The solar stuff would come into play for long term things if you couldnt get fuel but your right 2500 for something that will need recharging daily is a big pill to swallow especially when you could buy a real generator plus a ton of fuel for that price

Glad i could help and glad you didnt make a choice you might regret. Feel free to email me with any questions but a few quick tips, for this example lets say you are powering a average fridge 1. Make sure the out put is 500watts or above. Fridges have high starting watts 350watts-500watts and then drop lower. Avg is around 350watts but extra output is better incase you have something else plugged up. 2. The larger the Watthour (capacity) the long the device will run. Ie 768wh (4 patriots 1800) is less than 1612wh(4 patriots 2000x) and both are less than 3600wh (eco flow delta pro). 3. According to renogy (link to article below) the average fridge consumption is 102watts per hour. So according to this if you have a unit that is 1000wh capicity, it will run a fridge for roughly 1 day, however on my testing for my fridge my delta 1260wh ran a fridge for 15 hrs roughly 85 watts per hour www.renogy.com/blog/an-indepth-guide-how-many-watts-does-a-refrigerator-use/

Now I'm incredibly overwhelmed, especially since they're saying there's another storm out to sea. As a grumpy old veteran have I made a huge mistake? They seem to be out of stock often, but my Okmo has done well and we use it a LOT. But those solar generators do have limitations. They can’t do big stuff for more than a couple mins. Phones, tablets, flashlights, string lights, fans, and even small freezer are fine
@titanpreparedness Жыл бұрын
I can agree know the limits. Thats what i dont like about this one is it overestimates the limits. I know my delta will power a fridge/freezer for about 12 hrs but some how they guess their old unit thats half the size will run one for 20

Almost a year ago, I bought two Patriot refrigerators/ freezer. In no time at all one of them quit working. To their defense, I called the agent went over all the steps to get it up and running. Nothing worked. When I asked him was I to return it, he said no, shipping cost too much. We'll just send you another brand new one. And so they did. Since then, both have been running continuously on ac. I don't think the batteries would run it long enough in a crisis. The box itself appears to be good enough to use for an ice chest. Thanks for totally confusing me on the generator.

You failed to mention the ecoflow does NOT come with the solar pannels needed to power it, that is part of the price difference plus the aded hardware for 1800 watt output also adds to the price difference. While the storage capacity is important the output is more important for powering devices and the extra weight comes from larger and heavier components needed to power the output side, not to mention the 4 patriots generator can take upto 240 volt input. Someone else doing a test and not maxing the generator out has nothing to do with how it actually preforms. There is actually a lot yuou failed to mention. Why is it you feel the need to down play another brand to advertise the one that you have an affiliation with?
@titanpreparedness Жыл бұрын
So few things to mention here. I did in fact talk about the eco flow not coming with a panel when the 4 patriots does. Its a 100w monocrystaline non folding panel that they value at $500. You can buy better panels for either unit on amazon for about $200. You said output was more important. So you would be correct in saying the 4 patriots can output more vs the eco flow river 2. For this one I was doing strictly battery size comparison both were 768wh. If you need that 1800w output then the 4 patriots is better compared to the eco flow delta that has 1800watts of output with 3600 surge and a bigger battery for $900 compared to $2500. It too can take 240v of input and weighs 30lbs compared to the 4 patriots at 40. Now you talk about me down playing other brands to promote ones im affiliates with...interesting choice of words. I compared 2 similar products based on specs and one came out above another. Would you rather i be like most and tell you that you should buy a $2500-$3000 product that cant beat the other product that is 1/2 the cost? Yes i make money selling ecoflow to viewers but ive also invested my own money buying their products and a lot of my time doing research to find the best dealer for this type of system. If your mad because you bought one then thats on you. If you are happy with your 4 patriots, then congratulations. This video was to showcase that there are far better products out there for a fraction of the cost.

Yeah 18 hours is the best case situation. That's 100% accuracy on the solar panel with 18hrs of perfect sun, which is nearly impossible. However That's the way it is for any solar system but if you get a unit that can intake more solar then the time will go down

We haven't had the product (Patriot's) for long enough to be able to say whether it's a good product long term or not, but after we got it, we did have a short power outage, and so just testing it out for that short amount of time, I was able to run 2 fans since I live in an area that gets hot during the summer and a lot of times during the early fall, and it worked out great for that (so far). We also used the generator to power our fridge for a while, and it worked ok for that too. So with the small amount of time we were able to test it out, so far it worked good (if that helps any). I'd like to add that they DO say that you don't run your fridge off the generator constantly, but run it for say an hour, and then turn the generator off for 3 or 4 hours etc. over and over, but don't run it constantly with no breaks. I'm thinking about maybe in the future buying a small fridge off amazon, because I think that would be a better fit for the generator though.

So in general you might be correct if the towers go down without a backup generator your cell phone might be of little use. However, lets say your life is not in danger, you could read a book on your phone, look up maps that youve download, play games that dont require the internet, or you could hook that phone up to a wifi connection that is available and get information or entertainment that way. Many uses for a phone that dont require cell phone service.

So my Eco flow Delta (when new) would hold a charge for a year. Itll charge my small devices so many times ive lost count but it will run my big items like my chest freezer for about 15 hours. So youd be correct when comparing either patriot to the delta one 2500 compare to 800 life cycles. However not compared to the delta 2 (3000 LCs) or Pro (3500 LCs). According to a lot of these comments from people that bought it and from many others online your gonna need that return policy. "American based"- You can find many of their products on chineese rebrand sites. They buy in bulk slap their logo on it and resell it for 2-3x the price. Feel free to email me and we can discuss more in depth and i can give you a better list

A good electricity backup plan consists of two things. 1. A good "Solar Power Station" which will power the essential items-refrigerator, small fan, lights, etc. This unit should be at least 2000 watts rated with an ~ 4000 watt surge. I bought the Pecron E2000LFP that fits this spec. (~$1199.00 at BIG A store). I can run my full size refer overnight and still have ~ 35% power remaining the next morning. 2. A good INVERTER generator, rated ~ 1800 watts running with ~ 2200 watts surge. I bought the Westinghouse iGEN2500 that fits this spec. (~$600.00 at HD or Lowes. It only consumes ONE gallon of gas running a 25% load for 10 hours. During the day, this inverter gen "recharges" my solar gen battery for night-time use for the refer. For hurricane season in Florida, I keep at least 15 gallons of STABILIZED E-0 - ethanol free - in reserve that would give me a good 5 days STRAIGHT of back up power with remembering to change the oil at ~ 100 hours or so. The above is MY plan and gear and is typical of what most people have/use for a power outage....
@laurakcollins9 ай бұрын
When did you buy it? My mom did the same is you and feels the exact same way. But I checked their return policy and you can return it within 365 days of purchasing! You have to pay shipping and a “restocking” fee but still better than the insane price it is
@ainttakenanyshit9 ай бұрын
@@laurakcollinsWell, I DID NOT buy it, I did my homework BEFORE outlaying the cash. Again, I can wholeheartedly recommend the Pecron E2000LFP as it give you the best performance for the $$ you spend. As you have the option to ship the patriot back, it will cost you AT LEAST 125 BUCKS or more.... I live in Florida and you will benefit from a "solar power station", but, for the hurricane days with clouds, the Westinghouse iGEN2500, an inverter type that only burns one gallon of gas in ~8-10 hours... USE E-0 gas only in any small engine you have at home... My hurricane plan is to run the Westinghouse gas inverter during the day for a window AC and refer, also to charge the Pecron for night-time use for the refer that will keep the refer running overnight and still have 30% power in reserve. If you have any more questions, give me a shout right here 🙂 Hank

I calculated my energy needs. Then I did some shopping, not happy with what I found. For about $200.00 I built my own that fits in a backpack. It includes 4 backpack size solar panels wired in parallel, solar charge controller, ac inverter, and 2 batteries wired in parallel. I can add battery/batteries as needed. There are resources both for free and nominal charge that will walk you through this process. If space is not at a premium you can get larger 100 watt panels, if space is a premium you can search for smaller panels that you can wire in parallel to meet your power input needs.
