Oh hey about the different for natural and synthetic fiber brushes, I actually do know that! Basically synthetic brushes are very good for holding their shape, I would recommend them more for acrylic paint. However natural brushes hold a lot more water, which means they also hold a lot more pigment from both watercolor and gouache, allowing you to paint longer with the same color before needing more paint. Hope this helps!

90 lbl/200 g is absulutely fine for watercolour but only when it's 100% cotton! It will warp slightly more, but if you secure it with tape it will still do better than any 300g celulose paper. very nice video!

Agreed, 100% cotton is the way to go!! 💛 Thank you so much for watching!

I’ve found gouache to be way more forgiving than watercolour when it comes to paper😮‍💨 I always use watercolour paper for gouache paintings but it doesn’t matter if it’s cellulose or cotton. I think the same is true with watercolours for me. I think sizing is more important. You get some really awful papers that are 100% cotton and marketed as watercolour paper but they aren’t sized properly so it doesn’t handle the water well. And Hahnemühle makes cellulose paper that is to DIE for 🤩 I will choose Hahnemühle Harmony paper over Arches every time because I just enjoyed using it more and got results that I liked more!🥰 But I think it all comes down to preference and people who are just starting out don’t have preferences yet so this video is such a gold mine of info🥰 and it’s just a really fun video to watch. I’ve watched this like 3 times over the course of a few months 😂 your personality and sense of humour are lovely 😁

Oooh Hahnemühle does make lovely watercolor paper!! And you're so right, sizing does make such a difference. Since making this video, I've learned a lot more about sizing and its importance! Like you said, it's most important to find a paper that you love using. 💛 Thank you so much for watching my video! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

Ordinarily I paint with watercolors but decided to give gouache a try. I've been watching a number of gouache tutorials. Yours were especially helpful, thank you so much! Also, was also glad to hear your glowing recommendation on the W&N gouache paints, since I purchased the 10 tube introductory set yesterday!

I love this video! Great advice! A note on Himi gouache - in my experience- it is really good quality but it takes a LONG time to dry (about 7-9 min per thin layer) because of the glycerin stuff added to make it “jelly” and that’s is great if you are patient - but if you are not you will 100% lift the color underneath on the first stroke when you try to layer it 😂 Be patient when you use Himi lol. Source: I use 5 different types of gouache and I unintentionally lift up the Himi ALL THE TIME lol
@allisonaletha
@allisonaletha 8 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! Ahhh the glycerin content definitely makes sense for the longer drying time. I'll keep that in mind if I try it out!

You can squeeze tube gouache into pans and it re-wets just like water color paints. (But not Acrylic or Acryla gouache, that is waterproof when dry)

My Himi isn't the jelly cup but they're in 100ml pouches because those jelly cup palette has so many colors that I know I would not use, so I chose the pouches which are about $2.16 for 100ml. So, true about the white paint and the paper. In my country Holbein is cheaper than WN designer gouache, so I use Holbein Permanent White and for Paper: Arches, Fabriano and Saunders cost a fortune (Never heard of Bee Paper before🤔) so I like using baohong 100% Cotton watercolor paper(CP & HP). I don't know if that paper is good but it doesn't buckle unlike some of the cheaper paper I tried.

@@allisonaletha yeah, besides the 100ml pouch for Himi they also have 2 other sizes for the jelly cups (40ml & 100ml) , there's also a tub of 300ml but it only has 5 colors from what I've seen online. I haven't seen them anywhere else beside online Asian art store.

@@grey3414 well, im looking in aliexpress and shopee, two of the most popular places to import, because there's zero chances of a better price at national websites. I need YOU to tell ME actually, where did you saw a 56 himi set for this price, because i never saw that. Like, RS121 for the product, taxes plus transportation? It don't seems real. The RS200 that i saw was the 24 set, because i wouldn't even dare to dream with the 56 set.
