I love to watch Natasha Foote, she is great and she has very limited supplies for card making, she always said that you can use what you have and make the best of it and she makes beautiful cards without the pushing to buy absolutely anything! You should watch her, she is fabulous!

Oh wow! I want this video on my channel! 😂You have summarized exactly what I want to show in my videos - great ideas that can be adapted to work with what you already have! Thanks so much for this shout out and thought process! Love the thought of changing 'must buy' to 'must try'!

Oh, Ardyth! You’ve done an amazing job introducing us to LIMES!! You were probably one of the first I watched who encouraged me to use what I have and ideas to use them differently! Kerry’s videos, and yours, are fast becoming my “go to” for ideas and techniques! I’m thankful for you both, and blessed by your talents and time!!!💕

You make an excellent point ! There’s one card designer that I watch, because I truly enjoy her cards - but guess what, she’s so good at her job that the supplies used in her card are often sold out within 24 to 48 hours ! Now I find myself chasing that item down … thank you for making me re-think my focus.
@inkhillrevival2893 жыл бұрын
Aww thank you! I totally get that, but yes it’s so wonderful to be able to watch any tutorial out there and just shift our focus to learning and getting inspired when we’re not in the market to buy.

Yes!! Perfectly said! As a newer card maker I sometimes get discouraged that a lot of videos are really just commercials for the products. I have been trying to just learn and try the technique being shown. I appreciate Ardyth and Natasha too!! Thank you for sharing!!

I can only imagine there are lots of people like myself that get quite obsessed with their hobby. I haven't spent money I don't have, but I bet people do! Very good advice. I would think you could make 2 rainbows with a set of nested circle dies. Love your videos, and Ardyth's ❤

This message is perfect for crafters like me who often get overwhelmed of all those products. I LOVE watching your videos. You always show me I am not alone with my thoughts and feelings about all those crafty products and problems. I prefer videos of cardmakers that encourage to create with what we have istead of watching a "product commercial" craft video. But this here is a very valuable tip to just focus on the techniques and to find solutions how I can create something similar with things from my own stash. Thanks a lot Kerry. Keep up those heartwarming and encouraging videos please!

Thanks for the thought process. I remember your fun card you created with her concept. I used to watch videos and make a card with my supplies that were always different, then I began purchasing and purchasing. It is time to go back to using what I own without new purchases. I will give your list idea a try.

I did this recently with a stamp I saw on a video -- it was a wreath made of different size dots. I scrounge around my desk to find three sizes of open circles and stamped them onto a traced circle to make an ornament. I used an ornament topper from a different stamp set. I wasn't 100% satisfied, but it gave me an opportunity to work on my Copic blending, so it's a win!

Yesss, I love your pivot to practice over perfection! I sometimes get frustrated trying to recreate a similar look with different supplies than what’s shown, so I generally prefer to pull out random details and spin it into something quite different.

This is so great! I love your videos! I just did a destash and organized my space once more. I was so happy with my progress I put up a craft tour video! Limited supplies doesn't mean limited creativity! I love 100% of the items I own (mostly stamps) and I love looking at new products for inspiration to use what I currently have. I want to 'do', not just collect. Crafty hugs to you!

I have been clicking on alot less card maker videos lately because everyone seems to be selling something. It's tempting to try to do the same, who doesn't want a piece of the pie, afterall. I have so many unused tools and supplies and I know not everyone will have the same so I try to use what I have and encourage others to do the same.

I think it’s so important as viewers to be able to watch and then consciously make a choice about buying or simply learning because you’re so right, we’re surrounded by marketing every single day. It’s the way the world works, but I think it’s great that people can make money doing what they love. We’ve just got to have our own backs too as consumers❤️

Such great advice. Lately, I launch a new series to get more out of you sash myself. My videos tend to focus on techniques to either use the same supplies across different seasons or to change the image by drawing in detail or by masking. Anyway, I love you videos. They have a practical and compassionate component to them that you don't see too often. Have a wonderful day and thanks for the great video.

What you are saying is so true. I recently discovered mixed media art a couple years ago. Obviously the youtube artists I watch have tons of products and i started with very very minimal stuff. I still have minimal stuff I think. Mixed media products the youtubers use is generally not easy to find or very expensive in India. Initially I would really pine for all the cool and professional stuff they had but after a while I started enjoying diy ing my own supplies or finding a way to making my own for free or very very low cost. I have realised i actually learnt a lot of techniques without feeling the need to buy loads of stuff. And the pages that I make out of the 'found' focal images or diy supplies are the ones I must enjoy and am proud of. In fact I once bought a paper pad and matching die elements set but I don't feel like making anything from it because it just seems too easy....

I understand that as an artist, affiliate marketing is one of the ways they can support their art and themselves so no hard feelings for the artists who push tons of products in every video but special respect for you and those who want to convey the message that techniques and not products will make your art better and you happier and not the other way round.
