It's so damn true. We live in the past, follow the same routine, think about the same things (with different people in slightly different contexts) and tell ourselves its because that's what has worked in the past. But realistically its because change, progress, and healing are hard. Majority of people will cling to the comfortable, but growth occurs the moment you stop worrying about being comfortable and surrounded by people.

I just watched his "Summer" music video. The lyrics are blatantly about climate change. A comment explaining that the song is about climate change has 500+ replies from people who didnt notice that. Most people are fucking stupid and never actually think for a day of their lives. They dont pay attention, too stuck in their heads to notice things without being told. Its those kinds of people who worship people like Donald Glover. I respect the man, I love his stuff, but he is one good person among many, people just dont look around to see the other good people.

@@ordinarytree4678 Well said, man. People go crazy with respect to the extent that they idolize celebrities. Like you said, good people are everywhere.

@Hugsforall when the message is literally the core meaning of the text I have no sympathy when people dont get it. Interpeting art subjectively and coming to your own conclusions is true for literally all art, but blatantly missing the core themes is just blindness. Otherwise yes we are in agreement.

@Hugsforall debating people on online forums and chatrooms is a waste of time, people (like me) only learn new things through trial and error, and by being socially obligated to interact with new people in real life. The most likely way my judgemental attitude towards idiots who cant read literal text will change, is if I accidentally befriend one of those idiots in real life and have to be nice to them for a while. In fact, Ive already been doing this, since Ive been existing on this planet for a while. I need to explain the primary meanings of lots of things to people who dont get various art pieces whose director commentaries I have watched. Sometimes I like them enough to help have a conversation and educate them about something. Sometimes they educate me (I treasure these moments). Sometimes I dont like them and I say nothing because I dont want to waste my time and I know that they would immediately reject my ideas. 9/10 times the last option is what the internet is like because none of us know or care about each other on here, as shown by how I reacted quite rudely to you and suffered no consequences. I appreciate your attempt at reaching out to me, but for the sake of saving your time: debate people irl where you can punch them in the face when they insult you. Dont do it online where everyone is safe behind their glass screens and the most stubborn, vocal people are flat-earth-believing climate-denying children in adult bodies who dont know what the Dunning Krueger principle even *is*.

@Hugsforall ...thank you for being a decent person. I still believe that violence and saying "no" is needed to defend against people who won't listen to you, but perhaps I should try your method more often. Remind myself to reach out to people more. Truth be told I interpeted your initial response to me as snark, but maybe thats not the best internal reading voice to have online. Maybe Ive been going online and expecting to be angry most days... I'm not an actual tree, but if I were I'd give you another breath, free of charge. See ya around.

I’m afraid we won’t continue to get raw moments like this anymore from artist because of how the message will be perceived. Social Media took away the heartbeat from passionate individuals. Artist like Donald say less these days because it will somehow get twisted. It’s Unfortunate because he’s very thought provoking.
