I guess i am the first African here 🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬 , great video. My dad (now 85 years old) always had this quote that "No entity is capable of seeing the medium it survives in", then he proceeds to give us simple examples of humans survive by breathing AIR so we cannot see AIR, he then says "I think a fish doesnt see water, it might be seeing air as water".I never understood why he always told us that when we were kids.

When I've had direct experience of reality some 6 years ago, there just was pure perceptions - just seeing, just hearing, without nobody who was seeing, no objectifications of what is seen or heard. I was seeing the trees glowing with light from within, everything was very bright as every moment seen with a fresh look. I then realised that what we see is not the real reality, and our true nature is what underlies everything we see as a world. We can experience total presence, in which there's no time, no subject-object, we experience directly awareness, our true nature.

Don Hoffmans theory of concious realism is one of the most sophisticated hypothesis about conciousness at the moment. Space time is the aspect of interaction and interpretation but the basis of reality seems to be a constantly changing realm of infitnite different types of experiences into the unkown. Death is not an end - it is just to ensure a constant wonder in ones life. I would love to know how it is all ordered.

That’s the trick. You get it when you say “how it is all ordered” I can say that, and offer an explanation that you seem to be seeking, because I implicitly understand what he shows in the computer models. In my first book 20 years ago I had a chapter on “going beyond our evolutionarily-limited world view” which assumed that people knew what Donald Hoffman shows. For example the narrow band of the electromagnetic spectrum which humans can actually see was one of the examples I used which now is one that a lot of people use. It’s extremely important to understand how the brain works in order to fully transcend what “works” for mere survival-which is why I write that the theory of evolution is pretty much the “keys to the kingdom of heaven” in that regard-the key to transcendence of the “evolutionarily-limited” world-view. Religion speaks of transcending illusion, or things of this world. The idea of sin. All that stuff is what the “program” in your mind can follow and therefore blind you to higher meaning. I show in this regard that humanity is a transitional organism which absolutely was meant to take over its own evolution for just this reason, the blind forces of past evolutionary history cannot otherwise be transcended in a sustainable way. In other words we have no future without conscious careful evolution. We already UNCONSCIOUSLY self select in destructive ways that serve proximal purposes because we in majority don’t see the larger picture. Indeed the wages of sin is death, and global warming is only symbolic of the real issue which is not following the actual information laws of the universe I delineated in my 2 books 20 years apart-because they don’t think that language is any more than a human invention or that our kind of consciousness is the only kind. Stuff like that. I don’t know what else to say. I am a mutant. 😂 🤷‍♀️ Love Donald Hoffman’s stuff. I am extremely glad you liked it. Thanks 🙏🏻 If you want to know the higher structure and meaning to things I can definitely help. It has been my entire life’s work. It’s gratifying to see people learning these things. 🥰💡

I have synesthesia and it didn't affect me in the daily life. When I was a kid it was much stronger and varied, it was quite odd trying to ask if other kids saw colors in numbers and letters and they had absolutely no idea of what I was talking about. I also see moving shapes and colors when listening to music, they're 2D but rotating and moving on a 2D plane like a drawing, definitely not like the example Hoffman gave. Every person has a color based on their name, I don't put any thought into it nor can I ignore it, it's all the brain doing on its own. It's definitely not a trip or a drug or a special power at all, just a mild curiosity at best in my case. I stopped trying to talk about it to other people a long, long time ago since a person that doesn't have it can't relate at all, they have no idea in the slightest and you feel like a fool trying to explain.

The real you, is beyond anything you see, beyond an idea or imagining. The real I is what we are yearning for. We are incomprehensible. Some mystical describe our being as more of an energy system of swirling vibrating energy, and even that comes from a void of nothingness. We are undefinable being/knowing/awareness. If a body part were referenced we are the black void in the IRIS of every being in the cosmos.
@michaelrainbow4203
@michaelrainbow4203 3 жыл бұрын
But then who created the interface, and how would they create such an interface without knowledge of senses? Did consciousness accidentally stumble upon senses? Do our senses naturally grow out of consciousness? Whatever the case, senses must exist in order to discover them or have knowledge of them. They must exist outside of the interface, because they had to exist before the interface in order to be incorporated into the interface. Or so it seems.
@flafaloon
@flafaloon 3 жыл бұрын
@@michaelrainbow4203 what I understand from esoteric and mystical teachings is that we are this energy which is pure consciousness. Basically, it only knows. As Spira says “we are the Knowing which knows itself to Be”. This energy is overflowing with creative potential, in fact it can be called simply, creative energy. It is very easy for this system to develop a human world with its own senses. This whole experience was created, the story is that we came into this experience, when the truth is we created this experience, the world is in us, we are not in the world. The senses, biology, animals, politics, religions, aging, movies, sports, everything is a fiction. And You my brother, are the watcher NOT the doer.

I might add, the Hindus believe the world to be a play or drama. “The world is a stage” as the saying goes. I know this to be true, it is not my assumption or something I heard or read, or a conclusion I developed, but this is my fact from a spiritual experience I had wherein as I watched my barn lights at night I realized and remembered this world is a stage and all its objects are props. It is cosmic entertainment. Sorry but the ego will be crushed at hearing this, and deep inside you there is an inkling of this truth. So readers may react aggressively, for your human form is an image only, like the last movie character you saw.

The size (or presence) of the moon is not determined based on caloric expenditure. We're rendering the moon because it exists (in so far as current science tells us). Your question was: "why would we render the moon at all?" and he answered the question by talking about caloric distances. I'm not buying it. I appreciate he has done much more research on consciousness than I have, but if his theory can't answer basic questions, then the theory isn't holding up. Perhaps I'll try some of his other videos. Great episode, thank you for making/sharing it. As far as math goes, did humans create or discover it?...my answer: both. It is no different than time in that respect. There are sets of laws that exists, and mankind has just learned to 'label' them, in a means to understand them. So we did create AND discover it. We discovered there were constant vibrations and patterns in space and all around us and then we created a way to try and understand it, we call those math and time. I gotta say though, when KZbinrs have a 'give away' IF you like, comment subscribe is like putting toys in breakfast cereal....a way of saying, "Our content is weak, so we need to bribe people"...shame things have gone that route. This is a very cool channel, no need to stoop down giving away toys for viewers bro.

I think Tom Campbell and his views, expressed in his work "My Big TOE" does have something to offer in conjunction with Hoffman.s. it took years until Donald said the words "virtual reality" out loud (publically), even if I heard Tom's views echoed long before that. They should talk. Or maybe you should talk with Tom, to add to the topic of this being a virtual reality, and a scientific, logical model that also includes things like love and purpose beyond simply reproducing biologically. I may be able to help getting in touch with Tom, in case if you're interested. Thank you!

We see this reality platform perfectly. Humans have been designed to experience arrangements of particles through our sensory systems,the way they appear to us. There is nothing outside conciousness and if there is,it doesnt matter anyway. The way we see it is what sets reality. I think conspiracy theorists partially understood this and ran with it. From what I understand he is saying that the theory of natural selection says that all of our senses have evolved to the extent that, mathematically, they are 100% different from what they were in the past. Each one on its own. So previous humans might have been able to feel more detail on surfaces of objects, but now we feel less. Pair that with maybe we used to see objects in more detail (picked up different colours, etc) and we have a combination of the senses working so differently from then to now, that the same objects look and feel different to us now than they previously did. With the evolution of all 5 senses according to the theory of natural selection, keeping in mind whatever the mathematical rate of evolution is, he is saying that all the senses evolved so much that there is no chance that any of them receives stimuli in the same way as they did before. This is why he says there is a 0% chance that we perceive the world as we do now. He doesn't mean we are living in a simulation controlled by anyone, he means that our senses together with our brains, now receive their surroundings in a completely different way than they did in the past. Therefore we don't know what objective reality is.

Well my question is, the Construction/Simulation - is it created by the Brain or the consciousness? I assume we all know that when a person dies the brain gets left behind and the consciousness moves on, now if the Construction is done by the consciousness wouldn't it be safe to say that even when one dies and pass on to the next dimension the consciousness will once again construct a headset in the next dimension thereby obscuring reality once again.

The problem with the simulation theory is that it's excess baggage. Per Shankara's Advaita Vedanta, everything (The Class of All sets), is Pure Consciousness, "In-Itself". This includes all simulations. Besides, there could be an infinite regress of simulations, one behind the other. We can transcend them all in the sate of nondual Awareness. No problem. Access "Mahamritunjaya mantra - Sacred Sounds Choir" and listen to it for 5 min per day for at least two weeks. The "false" part of existence is Maya, the notion that objects are independent of Pure Consciousness.

Mathematics has to be a fundamental of conciousness. All numbers come into existence from the first concious observation of zero or nothing. When speaking of this “attraction mechanism” between humans (animals) toward reproduction: I come from a family with a history of mental illness; I mated and created two offspring and these offspring opted not to reproduce offspring. Does this mean that there is an unconscious mechanism in mating between some species where evolution is unconsciously halted in order to ultimately benefit the species because of the negative effects of mental illness?

We exist in a Brain, which is consciousness. We exist there for any number of reasons. Which one, I'm not sure but there are two potential possibilities. Either we exist within the consciousness of our creator or god simply because it is superior to us or we are inferior to it. Alternatively we exist along the event horizon of a black hole. In both case we exist within a two dimensional reality. However, those who rule over us and maybe once upon a time we two existed in the 4th Dimension. A place where time no longer exists for it's occupants. Much like a book, for those in the 4th Dimension they can see and know the whole book or choose to go to any point within the book and become a part of the story without ever being part of the story. But for you and me, we are locked within the story living it out even if we can figure it out. Let's call it our penitence. We create reality as do those around us. Although I now believe that there are a limited number of us, the rest are simply Holographic images created to fill the void that exists within our world. We don't die, but simply return again and again, a sort of hell, for reality isn't what we think. We are prisoners of a greater consciousness or trapped within the Event Horizon of a Black Hole. Black Matter, exists within the 4th Dimension, it is like the blood within our brain and gives life to consciousness, our consciousness. This is our reality, we are prisoners. The Question is, is it of our own choosing or were we put here. If the Universe as we perceive it was coming to an end the place most likely to permit us to continue to exist would be a place where there is no time. Either in the 4th Dimension, which exists outside of time or on the Event Horizon where time also ceases to exist. But even if I am right it changes nothing and I remain a prisoner of this reality until freed. But as of yet, I remain here. The End. Good-Luck and Good-Bye !!!!

The science of Consciousness goes back to the Buddha plus more refined philosophical analyses of Nargajuna (150-250), then on to the foremost advocate of Advaita Vedanta, (Shankara, 788-820). Advaita Vedanta states that the entire universe is Consciousness,, Brahman; and Shankara provided the means of tapping into and merging with IT in the state of Samadhi (Satori). No problem. Access the foremost Shiva mantra of the Rig Veda, (Mahamritunjaya mantra - Sacred Sounds Choir") and listen to it for 5 min per day for at least two weeks. Enjoy the Bliss.

I've been up and down and all around this topic for yrs. I agree with his input and also see it slightly different. Our reality is a product of us being third dimensional beings coupled with a manipulating force but once we break through the program and see the true nature of our existence then we can begin to create our own reality and therefore what we perceive as our reality is our reality whether it may take on a different appearance we are unaware of it still is our reality

You know...you can mix Hoffman together with Leonard Susskind-s holographic universe and mix in a little Nick Bostrom's simulation argument and top it off with problems with information and the Cambrian Explosion and it could really make you wonder....

Just a couple of thoughts.. when stuck say in thoughts of death question if you are dead already?.. A internal death can be more painful than a external. Don't quit before the Miracle. The totem of the Lion or Rabbit, the Rabbit continues to give birth in a world of predators.. don't second quess Consciousness as evolution is included.

Every brain on earth experiences a different perspective of reality. One persons thoughts are different to the next. We all seem to be creating our own game. We are run by a biological foundation. We are a biological computer & we grow & die like a plant. Amazing thoughts.

There are natural concrete objects. And there are ideas associated with these objects. Reality depends on whose perception. The realm of nature is true. Human consciousness is a false reality but may be true in the virtual sense where truth is consensus.

Donald Hoffman not once ever says anything about a simulatiion....Not his vision AT ALL. he's even been asked about this and he does not at all describe reality being a simulation. I'm SOOO tired of B.S clickbate thats ridiculously misleading. Clickbate like this actually have opposite effect and turn people off of something they might otherwise find quite interesting. Donald Hoffmans much more fascinating than some stupid simple minded simulation movie meme
