South Los Angeles - Donald "Sweetback" Archie, 63, also known simply as Doc, is an original Westside Crip, and was the first one to bring Stanley Tookie Williams to Saint Andrews Park around 1968.
He is considered by many early Crips as the most hands on Westside Crip during their formative years.
Rest in peace to Tyrone Birdon (January 7, 1954 - March 20, 1991) who was killed in prison as a result of multiple stab wounds.
Date: April 2017

Donald Archie is third oldest Crip to ever give an interview. The two oldest Crips, Judson Bacot and Bobby Crear we broke those interviews on this platform several years ago. We also have some real exclusive interviews coming, not going to say names because we want to preserve our contacts. We also have exclusive access to Craig Monson so if you like what we are doing and you want to support, hit that Patreon link: www.patreon.com/streetgangs and help us reach goal of 50 Patrons.

Great footage. It's amazing how this OG looks to the left and right throughout the interview as do the majority of interviewees on this channel. True gang life in LA is seriously true gang life that requires study. This is THIER life, whether you understand, appreciate, respect, accept, or tolerate.

It seems more indigenous in LA/Cali. I'm from NYC and we don't constantly look left and right by habit. Grimey dudes may be on the "lookout" and we all apply street smarts, but nothing quite like the way LA/Cali gangs - and citizens for that matter - protect themselves.
@SaleemMajor
@SaleemMajor 7 жыл бұрын
I agree, but in St.Louis where I am originally from, we are raised to keep our heads on a swivel. Our City is small and we were surrounded by enemies . Enemies that were literally 2 to 3 blocks away. Respect to you though. NY is no joke. The blocks are just made different literally.
@Powerule23
@Powerule23 7 жыл бұрын
You hit it on the nail - it's all about environment. LA has a lot of traditionally gang infested areas with limited foot and vehicle traffic. So, they tend to check every approaching car by habit, depending upon the block and situation. But, they do it so much, as you do, that it becomes second nature. In NYC, we're adept in quickly assessing rapidly changing situations because most of us see hundreds of new faces each day mixed in with the faces we memorize to trust or not trust.

Yea I don't know what's all the tripping for... you can learn from both. They both have pieces of history that if you listen to the stories put it all together you'll have the whole story (history) they way Kev interviews he can interview like that because he literally comes from the kind of aspect (Gang life) or was was around it StreetGangs can interview from where they can interview from the outside (not in gang life) looking in. Kev can ask war stories and etc StreetGangs can't.

You know what could be interesting? If you interviewed police officers that dealt with gangs on their beat. To see what their perspectives and attitudes about things are. I don't know if that would make it difficult for you to get interviews from active gang members, though, for whatever reason.

Strange that he gives The Westside Crips establishment in (1968) up at St.Andrews Park..... His Original WSC Roll Call is Absent of the OWSC on 113th Street. The Rio Show Crips on Western Ave & Imperial...... Whats That About? Ramond Washington & Big James went to Edison Jr High together? But Tookie claims to have brought Big James & the Harlems into the Crip Fold. FACT CHECK this guy.

Archie is clearly claiming to be the Founder of the w/s Crips in (1968). He is also stating the w/s Crips started at St.Andrews Park. Archies states the Westside started at the Park, then gives a Roll Call, you ask him for a year, he says (1968). SMH People watching this Video will come to the conclusion Donald " Archie" Sweetback started WSC @ St Andrews Park in (1968). Both Falsehoods. As the Interviewer, you should directed the conversation and made him stay on the facts. The Roll Call is Obviously an Al Capone Gang Roll Call. Not an Original Westside Crips Roll Call.
@AlexAlonso101
@AlexAlonso101 7 жыл бұрын
Joe Mosely yes, he is claiming St Andrews Park as the starting location for Westside Crip. They were all a crew already in 1968, but again, they didn't have a title. Westside Crip probably became a title in 1970.

The guys in the 100s were a different crew, and Donald Archie did not include any of the 100s guys as part of the original West Side Crips. The guys at St. Andrews Park were already established by 1968. Bacot even said they all met in 1968 in this interview: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5TQaqyEi5KjmKM Bacot also said in that same interview that Tookie was not the leader of the Westside Crips. ANd in this recent interview with Melvin Farmer, when he mentions Donald Archie, he followed it up with "the guy who bought Tookie to the set" kzbin.info/www/bejne/jmrWd4mlp5eSeJY What do you want fact checked? The middle school they attended from 1964 - 1967?

there was a movie in the 70s called something like Sweet Sweetbacks Badass Song. I can't claim to know the truth, but I assume it's cause of that. also it's a dope movie.
