VERY MUCH worth seeing. Losey is one of the best directors in cinema. I'm a director myself and if I had made a debut film like Losey did with The Boy With Green Hair I would have been so proud. His The Damned is also one of the great sci fi films of the 60's The cinematography here by Ernest Laszlo is superb. He shot one of my 13 all time favorite movies, Kiss Me Deadly Big thanks for posting this excellent print!

Having been blacklisted. Joseph Losey went to Great Britain where he would Direct five films with Dirk Bogarde. The first “Sleeping Tiger “ Losey used a pseudonym so the film could be released in the USA. And so Bogarde and co- star Alexis Smith. The other four films Losey made with Dirk Bogarde are: The Servant 1963,King and Country 1964 Modesty Blaise 1965 and Accident 1967. It was fortuitous for both the careers of Bogarde and Losey. After 14 years as a romantic leading man matinee idol under contract to The Rank Organization in 1961 Bogarde s career took a 180 turn when he starred in the film Victim-1961 which was a serious character actor role. Dirk Bogarde cemented his change to character actor with his role as Barrett in The Servant. Winning a BAFTA for Best Actor and again the next year for the film Darling opposite Julie Christie. In many interviews Dirk would say “Joseph Losey changed the course of British Cinema.

So many children are in that predicament these days. I like how they garnered the help of everyone in town to keep a lookout. ! That shd be the way.

What a fine piece of film making. I'm surprised that it isn't better known, but maybe Fritz Lang is a hard act to follow. Excellent writing here; the editing adds to the picture, and the photography is first rate--particularly the great location stuff. The cast--even the bit players--are really talented, and a number of them went on to bigger and better things. Thanks for running this film.

This is a marvelous remake, David Wayne performance is equally as good as Peter Lorre's in the 1930's German made original.

For a remake of anything Fritz Lang did, I wasn't expecting much, but it's a good movie after all. It's also hard to to Peter Lorre when it comes to a creepy little man, but this actor did well, especially at the end. Beautiful old architecture in Elsie's apartment building- what a staircase! Hard to believe people had to climb like that. I noticed the guy that left an 'M' on the bad guy's coat drew a circle in his palm, not an M. TY-great post!

I’m not much for remakes, but this version is actually just as good if not better than the 1931 version. Many familiar faces here.My other favorite remake is the 1950 film “The Breaking Point “ with John Garfield which is better then “To Have And To Have Not “.

I respect and like Joseph Losey's films. Some are classics like The Servant, The Accident and his film based on Mozart's opera Don Giovanni set in Venice. This film is terrible. I can't imagine what possessed him to think he could rival Fritz Lang's "M". The disclaimer after the first murder that the victims weren't "outraged or tampered with". Which forces the viewer to think of child rape as well as murder. Almost as obscenely offensive as Jim Backus at 13:00. The ending was quite dark but effective.

From the comments already given I may be alone in this opinion, but even having to put up with subtitles I prefer Lang's original version. If nothing else but for Peter Lorres portrait of M.

Nice 2 See Gangsters Give Back 2 Society,, If People Defund The Police & Share The Job With The " Local Gangsters " The Locals ".. Towns Could Be Alot Safer Out There.. Police Ar Getting 2 Rough With People & Accountability Is Literally Non Existent.. The " Gangsters The Locals " Would keep The Cops Inline The People Would keep Everybody In A Job.. It Would Work Out With Good Management & Bit Of Thinking Out Of The Box,, That Everybody Wants 2 Be In...
