Just great, thanks a lot! // I once heard, that the 'countdown' 'til ignition the first time in human mankind was used in this movie. So Lang 'invented' it and it seems to me astonishing and inspiring. 🚀🌛

They had a technical advisor working on this. Herman Oberth and his student, a young man called Werner Von Braun.

Welcome. I mention the countdown in the description. Previously, all launches were begun with a count upward from zero to a designated number (usually ten).

If gold were more abundant on the moon, then that would surely devalue the price of gold making travelling to the moon and back to get it uneconomical?

No. That is silly remark. There are huge deposits of unlined gold kn Earth, opening of new mines does not crash gold prices.

Good Don ... I watch 'WOMAN IN THE MOON' just as often as the Mabuse films ... and the version I have from KINO (the DVD) doesn't start with the Professor Mannfeldt (Klaus Pohl) Certificate in the opening frame ... ... and of course, the music is different. Hmmmm. I'll hafta watch the above to see the differences. This too, (hint-hint) would make for a great remake, me thinks -- in the vein of the recent 'THE AERONAUTS' from Amazon Studios. Character wise ... I find myself wondering as to WHY the title character, 'Friede,' (Gerda Maurus) went and got involved and ultimately engaged with 'Windegger' (Gustav von Wangenheim) and not the hero, 'Helius' (Willy Fritsch). Amigo -- this is ever so cool of you sharing these wondrous films for humankind. Such stories from directors by Fritz Lang truly tell us much of the human heart in not only story, but in the years and places it was produced. You're making a difference for fans and future filmmakers of cinema and the immortal Fritz Lang. (You certainly are to yours truly.) Dana ps: About a year before he passed, I had a long phone conversation with our 'AN EYE FOR AN EYE' director, Steve Carver. This was when he was putting together his still-photo book of Western actors in-character. One of them, being my friend and mentor, Bob Forster, who starred in the now minor cult film, 'THE BANKER' that I wrote. Like Bob, Steve was then, as he was back when we did our Chuck Norris show, a gentleman and unassuming, ever-so-cool human-human being. A 'mench' ... Guys like them don't come around every day. I'm glad you and I are in contact again after so long with our love of old films.

Yes. Fritz Lang had quite a life. His early films in Germany are amazing. One can only wonder what he would have achieved if Germany didn't go full on Nazi. As for Steve Carver, we never really got to know one another. I recall he hosted a touch football game on the beach in Venice. Glad you enjoy these postings!

@@DonaldPBorchersOG I do-! And getting to know you again after all the decades is cool too. You taught me much by example on our picture way back when, of how to, as they said in THE RIGHT STUFF ... "To maintain an even strain ..." As for the late Steve Carver, he got a kick out of something I saw the night we did the Prof. Tanaka choking out Mel in the back passenger window and how I saw the 'ripples' of the back window at a severe angle and thought what a better angle it was ... or could have been. In short, it's a great thing to learn from all these people, places and things we've experienced. Especially the films we see like this, WOMAN IN THE MOON. So -- Truly, thanks for putting this cinematic water back into the well so others may drink. You're teaching future filmmakers who'll be absorbing Fritz Lang, Charlie Chaplin, etc., etc., for generations to come. Bravo, good Don ... Bravo twice. Dana

Why does no one ever mention when he finds "gold" in the cave its the corpse or statue of an alien? 2:16:45

The end was too predictable considering the title of the movie. Also I don't really understand why the bad guy would risk his way back by antagonizing the others. Also I don't really understand why Turner and Windegger fight. I mean it's implied Turner would want to hijack the ship and leave the others on the moon, but that doesn't really make sense as playing along with the mission would maximize the chance him arriving back on earth with his newly found riches. The other characters are already established to not be in it for the gold. Maybe I'm missing some of the context from the book, but it really feels like he only does it to be the bad guy.

rather disappointed by this from lang and harbou, especially the first hour or so, a lot of dialogue sitting around kitchen tables and offices... the prescience about moon travel is impressive, but i didn't get past the first hour, maybe i'll scan thru/watch the rest later. but like i said, cinematically pedestrian in first hour.

@@kvarnerinfoTV These actors get along very well without words, but when you take away their facial expressions with a helmet, things get complicated.
