Thank you for posting this helpful, interesting and informative video. I´ve always thought it was odd that that the WPL tyres I bought for my RTR MN45 are softer than the ones on my RTR C34, and now that you´ve confirmed that there are, in fact, three different hardnesses. I realise that I have the "medium hard" type, but thought I had the soft ones. Now to order a set of genuine soft ones!

Thanks. But you know that stock MN-45 and WPL C34 do have different types of tires, not the "original" WPL tires? However, "original" WPL tires will fit to the rims of the C34, but not to the rims of the MN-45. For MN45 you will need rims, too (check my MN-90 build, where I used WPL tires). At the time I shot this video there was no WPL C34 and C44. C44 tires are much softer than C34 tires, you cannot use them without gluing. However, IMO the soft "normal" WPL tires are best.

@@donaldsneffe I have a B1 with hard tyres as the front half of my half track, so I know how hard they can be! My RTR C34 now has medium WPL tyres, and I put WPL mediums on my MN45 to make it look more scale, then found to my pleasure that it performed better, too. especially after I cut off the overhang from the back body : )

I say my pick would be the MN tires and the soft wpl tires. To me those to perform the best for what I was looking at. Very nice though

I just discovered all this for myself. I bought a C14 kit, and it did come with the really soft tires. They are so soft the bead comes off the rim if you breath on it. I also bought some wheels and tires off eBay and they are like bricks. I bought some tires by themselves and got more really soft tires. I don't have any of the mediums yet. But I just wanted to reply and let you know the kit I bought does hsve soft tires.

Larger tires - better crawling ability, but less scale-like. I heard the new tires of the MN-96 are stickier than the MN-90 and MN-45 tires... Good for a C14 monster truck ;-) But for an Ural-cab probably ok. I am building a "Mini-Kongkong RC Q157 Mud Truck" with WPL/JJRC/MN parts.

Could you tell how the new C34 wheels compare to these ? Are they the exact same dimensions as older WPL truck wheels, so would soft WPL truck tires fit a C34 rim ? Thanks for another great vid !!!
@donaldsneffe
@donaldsneffe 5 жыл бұрын
The C34 tires are a kind of "medium" rubber, but IMO even little worse than the "medium WPL normal tire" compound. Did not make the drive tests with those yet, maybe I will... but would have to setup everything again ;) The dimensions of the rims are nearly exactly the same, but tires of the C34 are larger. You can use normal WPL tires on the C34, but they are smaller. "Original" WPL rim (B1 etc.): 36 mm diameter x 16 mm width, "outer ring" diameter 33,5 mm . WPL C34 rim: 36 x 15,5 mm, outer ring diameter 35,x mm. WPL "stock" tire (measured on a "medium"): Ca. 65,5 (D) x 26 (W) mm WPL C34 tire: Ca. 72 (D) x 24 (W) mm

@@donaldsneffe Thanks for your quick reply ! :) So on my D90 i'm going to use C34 rims because they're so scale (once painted white/gunmetal, with a black center hub), and soft original wpl tires. This should look AND perform great. Keep up the awesome work ! Cheers from Paris.

the "medium" are actually the newer hard tyres, also, the softening really works on those, the old hard tyres have no place and this shows how WPL RC progressed in quality

I do not know - my test is quite old already ;) I do have the very new WPL tires from WPL official store, and they are very soft, but not sticky at all, far worse then the "old" supersoft ones. And I do have C34KM and C44KM tires - C44 are far too soft and not sticky, C34 are a little bit better (because not that soft). From all WPL tires I do have (those of this test plus C34KM, C44KM and the new WPL tires) those "super soft" of this video are still by far the best ones iMO.

Have you ever tried the soft WPL tires on the Basher Rocksta? Will they fit? Are rims available for thr WPL tires that can be mounted on the Rocksta?
@donaldsneffe
@donaldsneffe 5 жыл бұрын
Did not try. Tried now, because you asked. WPL have 5 mm Hex, Rocksta (and other 1/24 crawlers) 7 mm hex, so rims wont fit. WPL rims are about 2 mm larger in diameter than Rocksta rims. Rocksta tires will fit on WPL rims. WPL tires I do not think so, but could not test - do only have those Rocksta tires preglued to rims and they are nearly impossible to remove… do not want to put them into the stoven right now, and mostly rims melt (and tire survives).

@@donaldsneffe Thanks for the detailed reply! So we need to find rims, or badlocks that fit to the WPL soft tires with 7mm hex, right? Then we would be able to use them with the Rocksta! Anyways, 70mm OD might be too big for the Rocksta!?!? ID of the WPL soft tires is around 30mm?
@silbernersurfer8264
@silbernersurfer8264 5 жыл бұрын
@@donaldsneffe Well, I wasent lucky to find rims which may fit! Anyways 70mm OD is probably too big for the Rocksta. I have ordered the HBX wheels to get the beadlock rims, and scramblers from RC4WD. They have nearly 62mm OD and I was told they are soft and grippy. Got them from a seller in Germany, but recognized later that they are cheaper from RC4WD USA directly. Shipping cost is $5.50 worldwide! EDIT: Link to the shop I was talking about: store.rc4wd.com/10-Tires_c_599.html

Hi, does anybody know if JJRC Q60/Q61 kit has soft tires same as WPL kit? And what about RTR JJRC Q60/Q61? Are the same as kit version or harder? Thanks
@donaldsneffe
@donaldsneffe 5 жыл бұрын
not a real answer, but: a buddy (in a forum) wrote yesterday, that he had bought two different rear spare axles for JJRC trucks from two different vendors. One set came with "medium" tires, the other one with "soft" tires, his RTR had "hard" tires. So really difficult to say, which tires will come with a spare set. The tires of the Banggood-Link I have posted are for sure the _soft_ tires.
@4runnerrider
@4runnerrider 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your answer. I would like to buy Q60/61 but the kit versions are not easy to purchase as they also have DIY versions which looks the same as RTR (incl. radio and RX etc.). And I didnt know if that make sense to look for kit version at all when RTR versions are cheaper and available. The only difference for me are the tires as I will anyway upgrade all electronic and motor/gearbox...
@donaldsneffe
@donaldsneffe 5 жыл бұрын
@@4runnerrider If you wanna paint your truck it is much easier with the kit version, because disassembling the bodies of the RTR sets is quite a lot of work and sometimes not that easy. Anyway, if you do not want to use the RTR electronics, why buy it and make more electronic waste? ;-) - but you are right, since the RTRs are available and cheaper… go with the RTR and buy soft tires (if you think, you will need those).
@4runnerrider
@4runnerrider 5 жыл бұрын
@@donaldsneffe yes I will much prefer kit version because all you mentioned ;-) The problem is availability of the kit (not DIY version of RTR). That is why I asked about the tires hardeness. If JJRC kit and RTR tires will be the same (hard) that is easier for me to purchase cheaper and available RTR. If thi kit version has soft tires I will try find and purchase kit version (if they really exist what I dont know for sure because pictures usually shows the DIY versions named as kit...).
