I figured I'd come here to share this incase anyone has an upcoming procedure. I took one nasal spray of Desmopressin before surgery and homeopathic arnica tablets and I had practically no bruising! a little swollen, light yellowness under my eyes but oh my gosh I felt fabulous and everyone was stunned at how great it turned out. I highly recommend because it totally helped my recovery. Other than the cast on my nose it was like nothing happened.

Thanks Dr. Yoo. Some questions. I know about surgery and western medicine saying "no supplements" but could this be considered (no offense) to be an extension of western medicine's lack of knowledge about supplements? Ginger would be preferred by people like me for nausea rather than taking drugs. I have seen it do wonders for nausea and rapidly with no potential side effects and less cost. And what about the benefits of tumeric? Magnesium is needed for more than 300 biochemical reactions in the body. It helps to maintain normal nerve and muscle function, supports a healthy immune system, keeps the heartbeat steady (I do believe it saved me from a cardiac event), and helps bones remain strong. It also helps adjust blood glucose levels. Vitamin C is another supplement I would want to take. If you are reading these comments I would ask: can you recommend from personal knowledge someone that does rhinoplasty in Seattle? Thank you Dr. Yoo. Take care all. (retired R.N.)

Wouldn't icing impare the blood flow to the area, therefore the recovery?

Icing does cause vasoconstriction, which does reduce blood flow to the area. For rhinoplasty, blood flow is typically excellent, so the benefit of reducing swelling and bruising makes it advisable. In areas with tenuous blood flow, then this would be a consideration.

Hi xod0llfacex3 After rhinoplasty the cast on the bridge of the nose should be kept dry for 1 week. The rest of the body may be bathed normally. In cases where fascia is used from the scalp, hair may be washed with bay shampoo and distilled water in 2 days.

Generally Accutane will increase the risk of scarring, but for rhinoplasty the risk will be minimal if it has been discontinued for 2 months.

Hi brittany smith While excessively long nose hairs (visible beyond the nostril) should be trimmed, for the majority of patients this is not necessary prior to surgery. Just keep in mind that if you are going to groom, to do so with sufficient time for the lining of your nose to heal fully (usually 1 week is sufficient).

Hi Dr. Yoo! Is it possible to achieve a symmetrical nose post-surgery? How likely will the nostrils be asymmetrical? I've been wanting an asian rhinoplasty with you because I have a slight bump on my nose bridge (similar to your client Kayla Kosuga's nose before surgery). My nose isn't really that wide or flat like many asian noses, but it is a bit bulbous/round at the tip. I would like to see more definition/refinement at the tip and at the bridge from the front view by adding a bit more height. I heard it's not uncommon for the nostrils to be a bit uneven after rhinoplasty- I'm scared of messing that up since I think my nostrils are currently pretty symmetrical. :(

Hi Kim Vo The goal of surgery is always to achieve improvement, and the same goes with symmetry. Perfect symmetry does not exist before or after surgery, but improved symmetry is usually possible.

Hi xod0llfacex3 A virtual consultation is quite similar to an in-person consultation, and most patients do find it very useful and informative. The limitation of not allowing for a full examination of your nasal anatomy and airway does make the surgical plan subject to a final in-person exam, which is required prior to surgery. Many of my out of town/out of country patients will fly in the day before surgery to meet with me in person, then have surgery the following day.

Hi Global Bizniz & Funky Vlogs I actually do not use Goretex for any rhinoplasty as I feel it has a much higher rate of complications, and does not produce as naturally a beautifully result as using your own tissue.

What if I'm a powerlifter and need to lift heavy weights, should I wait a bit more time to do hard training (meaning training at ~ 80-90% 1RM) or should I limit the intensity of the excercises and do moderate intensity (~70% 1RM)? And if so, how much time would that be?

Start off light without valsava manoeuvres etc. Just do some higher rep stuff for a few weeks. Then get back into heavier stuff like 2 months post op
