@@shookbrii sure, but she disclosed to Dexter that she had suspected Kurt for a long time. So why wouldn't he curiosity get the better of her and let her investigate? All it took was one comment from Batista and her daughter and she was deep diving and printing off pictures of Dexter within one evening.

Angela did a lot of guesswork from pictures, not physical evidence. It wouldn't have held up in court. Firstly, whilst in Miami, Dexter used M99 to sedate his victims, not Ketamine. The wheel marks in the photographs were immaterial because they could've been mistaken for bug bites, which they often were. The original show and New Blood are nearly ten years removed. There wouldn't have been any bodies to autopsy, the original evidence pointed to Doakes by design, and Angela's "investigation" would've amounted to hearsay. Even with Batista's testimony, in all likelihood Dexter would've walked free. Maybe he would've been caught out on killing Matt Caldwell, but it's unlikely. It would've been far more interesting if the writers had actually thought about it, conjured up some compelling evidence, and put Dexter on trial in a second season of New Blood. Dexter extradited to Florida, placed on death row, attempting to prolong his life by lending his advice to the authorities on serial killers at large (similar to Ted Bundy) and ultimately succumbing to the electric chair - his greatest fear.

In concept the ending of New Blood works great, all of it, and this awsome edit _kinda_ makes it better too, but I think it was a "having their cake and eating it cake too" situation. where they wanted Dexter to confront how bad of a person he is, but also still make him someone who is doing things purely for his family- (yet doing it in ways that is ultimately terrible/selfish and leads to more damage down the line). I didn't hate it as much as others did, but I definitely found it's 'message' to be full of mixed signals, which led to an ending that barely satisfied some people and made others very angry/frustrated. I highly enjoyed new blood, but it's last 2 episodes (more importantly it's last episode) didn't match the set-up or quality of nuance that the rest of the season had. Would've been great if we atleast had 1 more season to better flesh out the mixed themes and messages the last episode rushed towards, or at the very least, divide the episode into two- it would've gone a long way to really set the viewer in the right spot for this finale( instead it _almost_ felt like they just wanted this ending for the "shock value", I want to think that's not the case, but it's kinda what it feels like the more you sit on it and time passes).

It’s a shame Dexter wasn’t a more consistent show. At its best I love it, but at its worst it’s awful. Really wound up not liking New Blood on the whole. Hoped it would be so much better but it wound up causing more frustrations.

I was SO hoping for a Dexter and Batista one on one. SO MUCH could have been done with that. I wanted to see the hurt in Batista's eyes as he talked to Dexter. I wanted to see Batista extradite Dexter back to Florida to stand trial. And ironically, Florida would be the end for Dexter just as it was for Ted Bundy. While not the same as for what they did, Dexter and Ted Bundy shared a lot of similarities. Just to name a few: Both started killing around early adulthood Both had pivotal life periods dating a twice divorced mother of two. Both eventually married that woman and had one child. (bundy married Carol Ann Boone, Dexter Rita) Both worked in a profession where they were part of the people looking to catch themselves. (Dexter was a blood analyst, Bundy worked for Washington State Department of Emergency Services (A group that tries to find missing women). both state that witnessing violence triggered their path. Bundy said violent porn messed him up. Dexter said seeing his mother get killed made him what he was. Neither used guns Both stated that they didn't understand the desire for friendship. I
