In today's tutorial, I'm going to give you some tips on how to do a high/vertical side kick. So many of you guys have been requesting this for a while so I thought I'd create a tutorial showing you the kind of exercises and stretches it takes to obtain this.

Hey Donavon. I gotta say, you're muscle control, and balance while kicking is probably some of the best I have seen. Even in Korea. You have amazing kick flexibility, and kick height, especially on side kicks, but I'm more impressed by the perfect hip alignment, and how effortless you make your transitions, and combos looks. You are my kicking, and balance role model. I'm not as flexible as you, but after good warmups, and stretching I can get to the bottom of middle splits, and almost the bottom on front splits. However, I can't get close to kicking at my max flexibility, and when I try to high side or back kick, I start to lose my balance, or my leg won't stay up. I'm 6'3 and I weigh 230lb. But not flabby, I'm a personal trainer, and I workout, and teach martial arts, to stay fit. But whats wrong with my kicks? Help me! lol 💪🥋👍

i am a first degree (testing soon for my second) and i am the most flexible in my class. this was a challenge for me to do, and will definitely be something i’ll be working on! this was incredibly helpful, i hope i can get the results i want with time and practice :)

gosh, you are soo damn flexible, thats amazing! I'm doing Taekwondo for 2 years now and got my middle splits last week, but cannot do them as pretty as you do ... could you make a video on correct stretching for middle-/front splits? 😊🙈

stretch everyday ! but when you do make sure you only stretch to where you feel a stretch not toe here it’s painful

I think you must give it more amplitude at the begining, the flex is good but i dont really know if you are doing a jop chagui (side kick) or a dollyo chagui (round kick) you should take your kne and bring it to your shoulder, it would make the kick more technical and beauty. Sorry for bad English.

Don't get me wrong it's incredible flexibility to be able to do it and the amount of hard work involved to be able to do it is again hugely impressive, that said though as a practical kick I don't like sidekicks much higher than the lower rib area.

basically do the splits, loosen up and keep on doing dynamic stretching flexibility is key

I Did The First Stretch Really Well, And Then... The Second Stretch HAppened. I'm Real Confuzzled Cuz I'm A Red - Black Belt Testing For Black In Less Than 2 Weeks, But I'm Still Trash At Stretching. My Kicks Ar OK Tho, So Thank God.
