Got to meet Maurice Richard at an old timers game in February 1991 in Regina, Saskatchewan. He was soft spoken and super polite. He told me to stand beside him so I could have my picture taken with him/took picture with his brother Henri at the same game.

Love the story, it's great hearing a living legend talk about a legend. I heard a story once about Richard's intensity, a teammate scored a winning goal and The Rocket embraced him so hard that he broke his nose.

I met Rocket Richard in 1961 or 62 in Gananoque Ontario when he was guest referee for an exhibition game. He struck me a really humble and very polite. One of my fondest memories as a player. Tom Carty

Grew up with stories of Rocket told by my grandpa who watched him years ago from the U.P. One of the best to lace up and Mr. Cherry, you sure are missed! I haven’t watched HNIC since and I grew up watching only HNIC because that’s hockey, not sorry @ss ESPN! Long live Rocket Richard and Don Cherry!

There never will be another like him that’s for sure. For as hard as he played he also took a lot of cheap crap from others. He never complained and kept putting them in the net.

The real Maurice Richard. A great man! Not like the other one who will spend his afterlife in hell.
@donaldbrinks51158 ай бұрын
Back when men were real men. Richard, Howe, Hull etc. No helmets, No beards. Can you imagine how many goals they would score now in this watered down version of hockey nowdays.
@RaineriHakkarainen2 ай бұрын
Come on Donald! In 1980s NHL 8 goals per game! Today only 6 goals per game! Auston Matthews have scored this season 54 goals in 63 games! If Matthews had played In 1982 he would had scored over 100 goals easily beating Gretzky's 92 goal record! Ovechkin ERA only 5,3-6 goals per game! If Ovechkin had played high scoring 1980s he would had scored over 1000 goals easily! In 1980s 90% of the NHL players were from Canada! Today under 60% of the NHL players from Canada! Gretzky played players from Canada only! Canada have 650000 hockey players! Ovechkin's Russia under 100000 hockey players! Canada should have 7 guys who have scored over 800 goals like Ovechkin! Don Cherry brainwashed the people of Canada to hate other countries! Don Cherry claiming that NHL players from USA Russia FINLAND Sweden CzechRepulic Slovakia are Ilegal aliens not Humans only aliens! Don Cherry said do not draft USA born Auston Matthews! Lunatic Cherry claiming that the NHL MVP is Ryan Reaves! This is why Canada do not have 7 guys who have scored over 800 goals because bad hockey culture demanding fighting violence no talent skating skills no stick handling! No-one wants goon enforces back like 1970s bad NHL hockey! Today NHL is amazing better than ever!!

@@RaineriHakkarainen well I guess we are are just at a gridlock. I will take team of Gordie Howes, or Booby Hulls, or Rocket Richards any day and you can have a team of Auston Mathews and I bet I beat you every time. And give me goon hockey of. the 70’s and not these figure skaters we are stuck with for now at least. And Don Cherry………NO , he is not a woke snowflake.

That's just ignorant to say. Richard was no mere mortal hockey player, he was a living folk hero, like Davy Crockett, Achilles, Wong Fei-Hung, Beowulf, Tadeusz Kosciuszko. And no, this is no hyperbole, not for French Canadians. There's a reason why a story insipired by him is on the 5$ note, where only national symbols and government portraits appear. The legend of the Rocket will live on forever. There will never be another Rocket, and that's why the fans would even boo one on their own team.
@charlieb3082 жыл бұрын
Montreal fans are so annoying! Anytime a player on their team touches puck and moves up ice they all scream like crazies

That is the rockets last goal. Of note.He beat tim horton twice on the same play!! Tim hortons probably never gave the rocket a free coffee after that. I saw him play from the blue line in he was not stoppable
