Thanks for all your helpful advice. I got a job because I followed your thoughts. I had an interview with the assistant manager & the manager of Dollar General Store in Sales. I had never heard of ZOOM until I came out to Washington, June 2024. Not afraid to be on camera, if the sound is turned " ON" & the camera is " ON". Both times, the employer could not hear my voice nor see my face. Practice makes perfect. Try, try, and try again.😊

Just want to say thank you for making all of this content. I hadn’t interviewed for a job in a while, and watching your videos really got me in the perfect headspace for my interviews. My resume isn’t perfect, it has gaps and I’ve jumped around more than I want, but I was just offered a job with a 50% base salary increase from my previous offers, and I was told everyone was uncharacteristically impressed with my answers. Your videos are what prepared me and made me understand what interviewers are looking for with each question, so I can’t thank you enough!

One thing I've been trying out for phone (not video) interviews is simply to *stand up*, causing me to use gestures which impacts vocal tone (think of what happens with stage actors!) If I'm sitting I usually restrained by the chair, the desk, etc & have a tendency of placing my hands or elbows on the table, which shuts me down physically. I've found standing helps me out in getting more animated which (like a smile) is somehow audibly perceived. Hope's this helps - try it out & see if you, like me, find it helpful.

@@anosjc you heard wrong. First of all, capitalists want to make money and grow. To do that a larger population is necessary and imperative. This is why china is so competitive and prosperous. Your population is your market. Would you rather start a business in a town with five people and two competitors or a city of ten thousand and three competitors. No people no money. Pandemics are bad for business. Be smart. Get vaccinated and wear a mask. People before profit.

Don - been binge watching your videos for the last 2 weeks prepping for an interview - great knowledge you are giving! I just finished the 2nd round of Teams interviews of 4 on 1....me being the 1 lol. Strange tip I offer - but I had heard that looking into your camera versus looking at the person that asked you the question, is the way to go - though it felt very odd. It is indeed the right way. I took it at step further and halfway through the interview stated to the 4 interviewers that I was new to interviewing online and hoped that when I was looking into my camera when I responded to each questioner, that they all thought I was looking into their eyes. They all smiled, nodded, and agreed that it is odd, but yes, they all sensed me looking into their eyes. Most of the interviewers looked down (in my perspective) to me while they spoke, but one person I noticed was looking into their camera, and they and I actually hit it off the best. In the end though, my design was to bring out empathy, and it appears to have worked. So YES - it's tough from life long training to look someone in the eye while speaking to them - to instead look at your camera, but it works!
@honolulublues55483 жыл бұрын
I know this was posted over 7 months ago, but this is very helpful content. The way I see it is that you need to be animated as if you were hosting your own KZbin Channel. People that run a channel - no matter the number of subscribers, if they are not animated in what they do, people wouldn't watch them. In addition, the content they are conveying needs to be something worth listening to - same in a job interview. Of course, they don't want you to go over the top an do something silly on camera like a youtuber might do

7-38-55 law is not true, is completely wrong. You need to know what you say and the right words, you need to know technical terms and words, if you have a perfect body language and a perfect voice tone, but you don't know technical things about the job you are out of the game, instead if you perfectly know technical stuff, but you don't know how to manage your body language you win the interview because you are technically competent. Job interview is a sale and in a sale you must be able to solve the problems of your customer, you don't solve the problems of your customers with body language, you solve it with technical knowledge and practical experience

I called the program manager to see what the status is of the interview process, he was in the interview as well, but just listening. He said, the manager thinks you don't have enough experience.
