Hello Don. I don’t know if you will be able to answer this because you are a native speaker of English, but what would you do if you just moved to the US, and don’t know as much English, or maybe your spoken English is not 100% grammatically correct? I have a great deal of friends in that boat.

The truth might be the worst possible thing you can say. - 5:56. I am not being facetious. This is good advice. I've heard people try to ease the anxiety of someone going into an interview by saying: "Just be yourself." WRONG! Be the person that tells the hiring team what they want to hear. I know from personal experience. Usually, my honesty and tendency to speak my mind have caused me nothing but trouble. Probably said behind my back: "He's not leadership material. He's not a good liar."

Had a perfect job match but the recruiter had a cold, bottom line vibe that completely threw me off and I bombed the interview. Really reminds you how perfect stars need to align to get the perfect job

2:24 - if they NEED someone then they NEED to hier someone who is qualified, and do it immediately. no call=no job There was someone better qualified, more in line with the world as it is today, younger, less "white", or YOU"RE over qualified and could have THEIR job😂

Tell them whatever they want.. If they say "Are you okay with this?" Say "Yes" (unless it is sexual harassment or anything illegal). If they think the earth is flat, you agree with them or they will hire someone else who does think that.

A very concise explanation. Thank you for this awesome video! I was looking for this definition since 7th grade, although this explanation came super late for me (in my mid 30s), I am still glad that it exists. I noticed that this doesn't get talked about often. What is one's greatest accomplishments? If we all focused on that, we would be a miles better society.

To further optimize my job search, I’ve been utilizing tools like Jobsolv and other similar platforms, which assist in tailoring my resume, connecting with potential employers, and staying organized throughout the application process.

With about 45 years of work history, I managed to get mine down to one page! It has a key skills summary at the top, followed by qualifications, then work history (which is very brief, and just a list of key responsibilities in about two lines). Also, in the work history, I dumped the dates/actual years at the job, just put in number of years rounded up or down. Years ago I dumped the 'references on request', and address - just email and phone number. I guess I have it laid out in a hierarchy of information that I want them to read, and I don't think most actually read it, just skim it.

Do cruiters really read resumes anymore? Isn't everything screened by an algorithm and then it reduces it down to like 20 resumes? And then out of those 20 they read those?

from experience, this will only work if the candidate meets the job requirements to begin with. Used "So, when can I start?" and "So, can I have the job." plenty of times only to be ghosted just as easily. or, perhaps depends on which field you're applying.

Q: "Can I have the job?" A: "I'm sorry but there are still 4 more interview rounds left in our hiring process" Q: "Can I have the job?" A: "I'm sorry but we still have 1200 applicants to review before we decide who goes to the next step" Q: "Can I have the job?" A: "I'm sorry but first we need you to take this completely subjective personality test to see if you are a fit for our culture"

In my life time I been on 100 interviews, I tried every possible technique, the quiet , the ask questions, the direct eye contact , the big white million dollar smile, the super suited man that they complimented me on being, at the end of the day it's all falls down to one thing, it's called having faith and destiny if the job is meant for you it will happen if it's not I don't care what u do what u say what u look like it won't happen. And to reply to what you are saying now I asked for the job at end of an excellent interview were my confidence level scared them and they did not call me or offer me the job. So these are all good tips but at the end of the day if that job is meant for you it will happen.

YOUR OBJECTIVE STATEMENT gives a recruiter or prospective hiring manager more non-discriminatory reasons to reject your resume for discriminatory reasons. What do I mean? If your race, religion, gender, or age (all things that can be surmised) is not what they're looking for, then your "stated objective" can become a legitimate reason to set your resume aside. Take a smart piece of Russian advice... Less is more.

To be honest with you, in today's world, I can't think of an easier way for an identity thief to prosper than to post job openings on a job board and then wait for for the desperate and naive individuals to volunteer all of their personal information along with their job application. How many times have you applied for a job, never to be acknowledged by the job poster, but then get inundated by junk mail and phishing expeditions a few days or weeks later? DO NOT SHARE ANYTHING ON A JOB APPLICATION THAT YOU WOULDN'T GIVE AN IDENTITY THIEF. PERIOD.

Video interviews are even worse when you must have your camera on but no one on the other side does, especially during panel "video" interviews. When a company did that to me, I was not happy with them. Shows disrespect.

When potential employers are asking for references too early, that was the info they were scamming you for in the first place. They are chasing the bosses, in order to sell their employment services.

I’ve realized I’ve been including too much detail on my resume. Moving forward, I’ll focus on streamlining it to highlight my key accomplishments. Jobsolv’s resume builder is an excellent tool for creating a concise, impactful resume. Additionally, their job board and auto-apply feature make it easy to find and apply to relevant job opportunities efficiently.

Great tips, Don! I especially liked the part about using strong action verbs. I'm currently working on revamping my resume and I'm going to use these tips to make it more impactful. I'm also using Jobsolv's resume builder to create a professional-looking document that highlights my skills and experience. Plus, their job board is super helpful for finding relevant job openings, and the auto-apply feature saves me a ton of time.
