Don! Thank goodness you put these together before you stopped making Letterman videos. Grodin is easily top 5 guests ever.

Wow. A lot of respect for Dave being interviewed on Charles show. We all know and have heard the stories of Daves very shy nature out in public. Not unlike Carson. I suffer from the exact same thing. It’s good to hear him talk about it and I’m so proud of him for being a recovering alcoholic. Wow, good on you, David!!!!

as a kid, I remember watching the "Go # Yourself" the night that it aired. That is why I've watched these interviews after he passed away.

Letterman fans, watch this, when Chuck turns the tables and hosts a fairly extended interview with Dave on Chuck's CNBC show. Starts at 29:50 with some historical musings by Chuck; Dave joins him at 41:30 (Thanks Don G. for digging this up!)

Man the network must have loved that CNBC interview. Probably lost 75% of viewers in that weird interrogation segment lol

The whole understated, continuous tension was quite in line with David and Charles' mutual shtick that carried on throughout the Late Nite/Show. Not so much "awkward" as a pinnacle in that relationship

These videos are wonderful however, I must say going into commercial breaks when they show pictures of New York skyline with the twin towers. It’s a little heartbreaking still…..

Grodin's interview of Letterman missed the mark. When Letterman interviews, he brings big energy and Grodin choosing to be stern, disinterested, offended, angry, whatever always plays. However, Grodin being dry and inane as an interviewer didn't work. Letterman wanted to give nothing and other than a couple of sarcastic whips, Grodin elicited very little from him. What Grodin did would have worked with Jack Paar or Regis Philbin, but it fell flat with Letterman.
