Very nice, Kevin. Just to dream along with you on how to narrow down and finalize the collection. Case 1: I would keep the entire top row and sell the entire bottom row and then replace that row with a Tudor Pelagos, a Longines Ultra-Chron, a Rolex GMT Master II, a Tag Heuer Carrera, Omega Seamaster, and a Seiko Astron. Case 2: I would pick your favorite 12 Seiko watches and keep that as your Seiko box.
@WrongTimeWatch21 күн бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion, I would really like to add a GMT Master II to my collection, however those are not that easy to buy from the AD these days. I would also like to try the Tudor Pelagos FXD, however I really like my watches on a bracelet, so I don't know if that makes sense to add to my collection. I had a Seamaster for a couple of years, however I did not care for how it felt on my wrist so I sold it.

Amazing collection. One comment: I watched your 2023 SOTC about 3 months ago and what struck me was the gloom in your voice, feelings of burn out and being overwhelmed by the size of your collection. You sound so much more positive in this SOTC, so selling those watches seems to have brought you a much more positive view of your current watch collection, even though it seems you still want to reduce your current collection by alot. Question, I remember you saying you like German watches, if you could choose to keep one of your German watches which one would it be ? I have a modest 6 watch collection (been collecting for 3 years), my most expensive watch is a Hanhart Chrono 417 ES 1954 so I dont play anywhere near the luxury watch Rolex/Omega/Tudor space you do, but I do aim to get a Grand Seiko in a couple of years when I turn 50. Im super conscious to ensure I dont get to the stage where I feel the need to sell a watch, so watching SOTC like yours where guys have 20+ watches looking at reducing their collections keeps reminding me to maintain the discipline when wanting to buy a watch.
@Owlsgo.owlsgo28 күн бұрын
I'm not careful enough with my watches that I could buy a 2k+ watch and not worry about ruining it. But I did pick up a Grand Seiko snowflake in Japan, promptly scratched the case, but it's not something I could ever sell. An indestructible Sinn would be a nice addition though.
@K.J.H_24 күн бұрын
People have different philosophies, but I don't get collection's that are just 3 rolex's, a moon watch and a Cartier. I'd forever be worried about what was on my wrist. So most my watches play in the sub 1k field were I don't stress about them (or worry about resale values etc) with a few "nicer" ones that get light usage when I'm out on an occasion, dinner or something like that. 2nd the Sinn idea. I'm still deciding on the model, but that'll be my next big watch purchase. Tough, tooly and totally badarse 👍
@WrongTimeWatch17 күн бұрын
Thank you, and I appreciate you coming back to watch this SOTC video. I definitely feel better now that I sold a bunch of watches, and I hope to further improve my spirits by selling more watches this year. Things really got out of hand, and I did not realize it until it was too late. If I did not have this YT channel, I would surely not have this many watches. I Think you are doing it the right way, really look at each watch as a keeper before you buy it, and don't plan on selling it. I'd like to think that my Sinn U50 would be the last German watch that I would sell, however I am not happy with how it feels on wrist on the bracelet. I could just wear it on a strap, but I really like my watches on a bracelet. I started out with watches under $200, and never thought I would own a Rolex as they are so expensive. Depending on which Grand Seiko you purchase, you could be spending as much as a Rolex. I might eventually get to a point where I do not own any German watches.
@WrongTimeWatch17 күн бұрын
You can still scratch or scuff a Sinn though. Watch wear is just part of the nature of wearing a watch. However, yes I still try to baby my watches, and it does "hurt" when I scratch a watch.
@WrongTimeWatch17 күн бұрын
I sometimes dream about just having one watch and wearing the heck out of it. It could potentially be cheaper in the long run. I do like your idea of having a nice special occasion watch though.

Thanks, I like these watches and need to spend more time with them on wrist. The Marine Original I feel is just a tad bit too big for my wrist, and the domed crystal on the Flieger tends to pick up too much reflection for my taste.

I found myself with more than 100 watches, realised that I could have had a number of grails easily with the combined value of all those watches that were near impossible to wear more than a couple of times per year. I am in the process of consolidating also and eventually want to stick to 15-20.
@WrongTimeWatch21 күн бұрын
It is amazing how fast the collection can explode in size. I started counting and adding them all up one day and came to the realization that I had way too many watches, and too much money invested in them all. I think my goal for this year will be to get down to 24 watches.
@ollik819217 күн бұрын

I'm aiming for, let's say, 10 or so pieces. have 4 sport pieces that cover all everyday needs; a Sinn U50, Navitimer, Longines Spirit Zulu Time and a Orient Kamasu beater. Then I'm looking at 2 JLCs, 2 GOs, a special world time, if I find it, a wild card and a grail perpetual calendar.

That sounds like it will be an amazing collection when you all all the pieces in place.

I’m a collector myself, roughly 13-15 watches at any given time. I just find it hard to believe someone can own like 25+ watches they clearly don’t care about at all. I say sell most of what you have for something that will make you truly happy my man.

Nice Pepsi collection! My first real watch was a Pulsar Pepsi Diver that my brother gave me back in the mid 80s. I've always gravitated to Pepsi's. I just picked up a Seiko SBBN031 tuna through Buyee. It may be the best watch I've ever owned.
@WrongTimeWatch20 күн бұрын
Thanks, I like the Pepsi color scheme as well. I hope to one day add a Pepsi GMT to the collection. I like the look of the Tuna, and have had a few in the collection over the years. I don't know if my SBBN007 will be a keeper though.

Great collection Kevin. Some seriously solid staples of the watch world in there. But that AD who sold you the Tidor and Rolex definitely lied. Rolex themselves came against this behavior to their AD's. Many had their license stripped for doing exactly this.

Thank you. I had purchased my Submariner three years ago, and they were a lot harder to purchase from the AD back then. It was fortunate that the BB58 that I purchased was a watch that I wanted to buy anyway.

The one thing I didn't like is the Rolex salesman saying you basically had to spend on a Tudor for the "honor" of buying a Rolex. If I ever buy Rolex I'm going chrono 24 or some other reseller although stuff like that has basically put me off the brand entirely.

The BB58 is one of my favorite watches, I was planning to buy one anyway, however now that I have the submariner I do consider selling it from time to time. I had also thought many times about going grey market, but I could not get over the fact of paying a premium for a "used" watch.

You have a fantastic core collection, Kevin. I'd love to see the rest of your watches. I cut down my watch purchasing dramatically in 2024 - only bought 3 (one was a present, one a Swatch but the 3rd was my grail - a mint 18238). I have a large collection, but I generally rotate my best 7 watches (which are all very nice watches). I also rotate 2 G Shocks and a Promaster as my beaters. The rest I display in my home, and I love looking at them. Sometimes wear them also. Happy Holidays my friend!

The top Tier I would describe as all the most common entry level luxury watches. I find those the least interesting in the collection and yet the most expensive. I didn't know you had those as I haven't watched all your videos. I find the watches you've been selling, the cheaper stuff far more interesting and unique. Personally I'd get rid of that entire luxury line of overly hyped too common over priced watches and focus on a core of interesting affordable. But that's just me.

Is it a nice collection? Sure. Is it just the stereotypical watch box that every middle-aged man has? Yes. Almost every SOTC I've seen this year is the same collection of watches. There's so little individuality, which is a bummer, because we've never had more choice as far as mainstream options, but also micro and independent brands. I would love to see people express themselves more in their watches instead of just buying what is popular and what every other white guy has.
@MrBacchus1828 күн бұрын
Your perspective seems distorted to me, most (I'm not sure why you called out white) guys) I know have no watch or a smart watch and one guy collects Invicta. This dude has a Damasko in the box. Oh he has Rolex, speedy etc but they are popular for a reason.
