I love it. I know I have said this a dozen or more times,but DPC is just a dandy app. For any droner who doesn’t yet have it,I say YOU GOTTA HAVE THIS APP….just sayin’🤓 I used it at 0530 this morning as I was getting ready to go fly in the mountains. It just has everything you’ll ever need.

Good to hear. (Although, I've said this before, there is no legal requirement to have a full Flight Plan or Site Survey document for every flight. But MAAC may require it...)

@@DonJoyce MAAC just requires one site survey per day, then the regular flight logs for the flights you made that day.

Great App! but... Why can't I create a flight plan without a data connection? It says "Cannot start flight until Locaion has been retrieved. Try again in a few seconds." but it never retrieves the location until I get back into cell service, at which point I am at least a 30 minute hike and an 20 minute drive from the location I am mapping. This is a consistent issue. I can only make flight plans when I have a data connection despite the fact that I won't know where I need to map until I'm already in that location. It's already got coordinates, why does it not progress without resolving a name? It also won't allow me to make flight plans in the past to document the paper plans I had to make because I couldn't make plans in the app. Please allow it to work without resolving a name. That's my only gripe. This app keeps getting better but I still can't use it for the majority of my flights because it refuses to make a plan without a data connection.

Key parts of the flight plan are NOTAMs and weather, both of which require an internet connection to acquire. The location is retrieved from your phone's GPS data. What kind of phone are you using?

It's an android. I get the location coordinates but I can't start a plan until it gets a location name. This can be tested by turning off your wifi and cellular data but not your gps. When starting a plan, it acquires the gps but clicking continue gives the above message. I do make sure to check for NOTAMs before I leave cell service. I have zero issues if I'm flying where I have cell data... Cell service isn't often found where there's deadfall, creekbeds and muskeg, though.

Hi Don I'm a MAAC fixed wing RC flyer. My primary club is in Controlled Airspace. I've successfully completed my Advanced exam and plan to do my Flight Review, in the Spring. I've had my Basic Certificate for a while and use the RPAS Wilco App to complete my Site Surveys. After I complete my Advanced Flight Review, I'll also be required to obtain Controlled Airspace permission, using the Nav Drone App. Does your Drone Pilot Canada App have the ability to perform both Site Surveys and Controlled Airspace permission Requests? If your app does both, I'll likely be purchasing it. How long should I expect to get updates, for the purchase fee? Thanks.

Hi Wolfgang! Yes, Drone Pilot Canada does Site Surveys (kzbin.info/www/bejne/jmjNoZisbMR3i6M). No, it cannot do permission requests for controlled airspace. When the Nav Drone App was released in 2021, Nav Canada removed the interface we used to use for these, and they have not (yet) provided a replacement API. I'm not sure what you mean by updates: We release new features roughly once a year. We update the aerodrome and airspace data every 56 days, in line with the Nav Canada cycle (we already have the Nov 30 data set to go out, for example). Data updates like these are 'instant' for users of the app. BTW, the app purchase price is one-time, not a subscription, and includes all data and feature updates.
