My real name is Tad, but DonKawaii/Don was simply an IGN name I created playing FF14 online, so I kinda just rolled with it. Lol. I am also a teacher, and I teach people dance. And normally, I teach my students dance through sharing my own choreography, giving people drills or exercises to build foundation and technique. and I've been dancing for 15 years mainly growing up through Hip Hop dance culture, but my foundation also includes minor areas in ballet, jazz, and tap. And how I got into K-Pop was because the main three groups, Wonder Girls, Big Bang, and SNSD. That followed with korean dramas, variety shows, and the rest is history.

I believe it is one of the few choreographies where Hoshi is not credited (on the physical album) and did not participate in the creation process. He mentioned during the interview that at the time Seventeen was extremely busy with their Japanese album and consequent schedules.

Actually some movements of seventeen is not based on usual beat counts.. they have a combination of beat count and rhythm of the song they are performing. I’ve seen a lot of their behind the scenes where they count not by number but by the songs rhythm or beat.. not the actual count.. if you get what I mean.. hahaha! Disclaimer I’m not a dancer but I appreciate their performances.

Yeah I totally get you. I used counts just as a standard to myself. There are definitely times where I interchangeably associate through "sounds or musicality" like they probably do.

I've never noticed that about the "maeil" part lol, for me it just accents the way they're singing "maeil" well (kinda dragging a bit ? Instead of pronouncing it so fast it sounds like 1 syllable like they do sometimes) but I realize now it's a hard one to dissect into counts since it's continuous. If you react to Our Dawn Is Hotter Than Day after that, please do check the lyrics to the song because the choreo is intricately linked to them. The choreo is like a translation of the lyrics into moves, almost like sign language (and they do use sign language a few times in it), and it's really beautiful

adding to what other carats have told you. the beginning formation is actually them forming a diamond but can also be interpreted as them launching a rocket. thats why in the music video they’re up in the clouds. wonwoo can be seen controlling the members but actually he puts in the code and then they launch.

yay! you've gotten to my favorite seventeen song!! after all these years i still miss oh my era the most, it's just really my style :') it was super interesting to hear you analysis of the choreography, i feel like it's one that's often overlooked bc it's not as technically difficult as some of their other choreos so i really appreciated your insight!! iirc the beginning formation has something to do with seventeens logo (which is a sort of diamond formation) but now that i say that I'm not sure if i just made it up 😅 also I'm not sure if you skipped it on purpose but you missed call call call which was their japanese debut! (in case you're worried about copyright since it's a japanese release, seventeens japanese promotions are actually handled by pledis Japan rather than a separate japanese company, so they don't tend to have issues with copyright the way some other groups Japan releases do.) also if you're still doing b-side choreos make sure you don't miss the choreo for "our dawn is hotter than day", which is from the same album as oh my! thank you as always for your lovely and insightful reactions ^^
