Donkey Kong 64 Glitches! | DK64 Glitch Picnic

Hey all! A tiny reminder to like the video if you enjoyed it, it'd help out the channel a lot since the KZbin algorithm is on a hating spree for me at the moment apparently. (Oh, and since 90% of you aren't subscribed, that too! This actually turned out way better than expected. A lot of time was taken to try and include glitches that I thought not many people will have seen (outside of the speedrunning community anyway), so I'm hoping it entertained you as much seeing them as it entertained me recording them. My days did this take a lot of time to record everything for... The 2 month gap between videos was totally filled with research, playing, testing, recording, scripting, more recording, voice over, video editing, image editing, sound effect inclusion and finally, the background music which is always my least favourite part. Oh, as well as working 60 Hours at a normal job and managing an angry fiance due to it taking up too much time. Anyway, that's enough of an essay. @@Fractorification It's always really difficult to get the music right! I always complete the whole video first, then add background music from the game afterwards. It's hard to put in music that fits the mood, sounds right, and the amount of dB editing required to make it sound right is crazy! Took 3 days just to add the music to this video 😅

About your jungle japes bird glitch around 5:15, I’ll NEVER forget how much I laughed when I discovered this: I was lanky kong and accidentally activated this glitch and I ran to touch the birds and found that they have a hurt box. I fixated over this glitch for the next hour or so and found it easier to just hit them with oranges. This was on the Wii U US version tho. Dont know if that matters.

Wow! I literally just searched “DK 64 Glitches,” because I wanted something cool to watch while I wash dishes and this popped up. Video says it was uploaded 4 hours ago and today is 11/25/2023 and its 2:10pm Pacific Time. Love finding something cool before it gets a bunch of views (and it will. Growing up, my siblings and I would do a proto type of speedrunning by seeing how many collectables you could get in an hour span. (sometimes 20 mins depending how many of us were playing.) Specifically the main one we used was lanky's arms and boss clipping to just go where we pleased. Our cousins would join in during family visits. The multiplayer was played a LOT too.

I think my favourite glitch in the game would have to be the one where you moon jump as DK to get up to Crystal Caves early. You can then bypass the locker dude by using DK’s jab attack at the right position to glitch through the portal. Then, once in the level, make your way to either Cranky, Candy or Funky and doing so will check a flag in the game that gives you the ability to purchase all upgrade levels at once. This significantly cuts down the backtracking that a casual play-through would take making the game far less tedious.

I knew a glitch in kong battle where some Kongs could briefly use their weapon while swimming. It involved pulling out the weapon and going to first person while letting momentum from walking near a body of water push you off. I remember having Lanky's blow gun in his hand while swimming.

The beetle race in crystal cave is even worse than the pachinko machine in Mario sunshine, I found out if lankey stops sprinting before jumpiny on the 1st slide that leads to the lava when he tries to go down the slide he gets thrown into the lava at an impossible speed as soon as you touch the stick with no way to resist it

Fun fact about the secret test room. A youtuber named Isotarge discovered that the motionless DK model in there was used to test out the main menu animation of DK picking up a barrel and tossing it at the camera. He ran some codes for unused animations in the room and actually got the model to move playing the aforementioned animation. Neat stuff.

I found a glitch that happens where you play an instrument at the right time when a Golden Banana enters a room after completing something, the Kong gets stuck in the spotlight scene you can move around, but can't leave the spotlight scene until you pause and unpause the game, when this is done you return where you were but the colors are off because the Spotlight doesn't leave.
