Ahh the DK64 Randomizer. This is how you turn a legendary game into an immortal one. I can't even imagine playing DK64 at vanilla version anymore as such. The possibilities are endless. It really has shown me that the most important thing about a game is that it's fun, so if you want to play a game with a super serious story first, that's fine. But after, you can play it again laughing your ass off while you find things in the most nonsensical places. I often find myself even buying the ice traps simply because I find the text announcing you bought one just that funny! Merry Christmas by the way.

I don't think you can get softlocked in this randomizer with pretty smart people behind the coding of the mod. You couldn't find Popguns to unlock Guitar, which meant it was somewhere else in the randomizer. The pathing can get pretty insane but you're never completely stalled progress wise. Think of it as "This unlocks That which unlocks another Thing which allows you to progress." Hope your next runs go smoother! Also always pick up the bean.

As someone who has played like 7 or 8 different seeds of DK64R at this point, one seed doesn't do the experience enough justice. There are an absurd amount of settings for making a seed, which makes every game feel different. You can change up the game's settings to make things absurdly fun or maddening. Decouple all the loading zones to never find anything ever again, make it so one hit can kill you, turn all the water into lava, make Mad Jack move so fast he becomes damn near impossible to defeat, or, if you're a REAL glutton for punishment; make EVERY bonus game Beaver Bother. Even if you're not interested in playing yourself, just go to the site to see everything you can set a seed up to do. It's ridiculous.

The instant Kong swap, better frame pacing and rate, bug and physics fixes, addition of a bunch of mini-games, many fixes to make terribly balanced things better and the amazing texture and especially music mods… and then the randomizer details… this randomizer is easily the definitive way to play Donkey Kong 64 today!

You should definitely watch some of the weekly races they run on DK64 Speedrunning! The commentators regularly explain basic mechanics of the rando during commentary to help new people who may discover the twitch streams or youtube videos!

At the beginning of the video I was excited to try it, but playing crystal caves while mini game music plays is tragic haha. Also not having basic potions/weapons early on is too bad. I’ve been watching your videos since I started playin. The DK 64 randomizer. The thing is, me and a friend were completely blind to the game, and we did a randomizer race of it 😅. The race turned more into a “help each other get through the game” lol since we were completely blind. After we finished the whole game, we took a 1 day break, then immediately threw ourselves into another proper race, and it was lots of fun, especially since we changed it so that any enemy could carry anything.

Don't know how you guys are gonna deal with the 2 coins mandatory to enter the final area. Unlike everything else theres only one of each on the whole game. So if your not lucky or the arcade machines dont drop them you gotta do every goal every kong has in every level possibly almost a 100% run on each kong hoping the next drop is that one single coin.
