Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kongs Quest Roller coaster levels

Here's something I wanted to put up for my friends for fun of it.

i always found so surrealistic how you could see fireworks, hear screamings of joy (in the music), but you can never see what happens in that carnival in the background. you are just floating in a distant broken coaster alone with some bad guys. Like people having fun at a distance but you can never be part of it. Lol it's silly but that's what I thought of these levels when i was a kid.

Yeah, but don’t you find it odd that half of the fireworks are duds in the background for some reason?

Exactly ! As a kid I was dying to actually get there in a game and also in a real life to feel those vibes. Seriously this level had a big impact on my life, I always loved theme parks and carnivals, and decided to work in one 2 years ago, and I met a person there that got stuck in my head since then

had this same feeling in the GEN Sonic games; Casino Night, Carnival Night, Balloon Park in particular. there's a vibrant scene in the background but the protagonist is in the foreground making sure disaster doesn't happen and everything stays vibrant

this was for CERTAIN the best of the three Donkey Kong games. it has the best levels, the best music, by FAR the most variety of locations . . . the haunted woods? amazing, amazing stuff. and yes, i weep for my childhood, too. such beautiful, fun-filled days with laughs and family and friends. things have . . . well they got bad there, for awhile. a LONG while. drugs, addiction, death and loneliness. hey, isn't this a DONKEY KONG game? why am i reminded of such potent memories from a goofy nintendo game??? (oh, i know why - because i'm a crazy person.)

Favorite game in my favorite trilogy on my favorite gaming system of all tiiiime!!! David Wise and the developers at Rare were on another level back in this era. 🖤

I think what makes these levels so satisfying is the sound effects. Just wouldn't be what it is without that satisfying "winning bell" every time you move up a rank in the race.

The roller coaster levels were always my favorite levels of the whole game. Krazy Kremland is my favorite world. I love the beehive levels as well as the roller coaster ones, including the music. Gloomy Gulch was my 2nd favorite world, with the beauty of the woods and it's music.

I play this level and I love to imagine myself actually in the carnival there and imagining how the rides look and seeing the “Kreatures” walking around like an actual fair

i don't like the large majority of dkc2, but i do like these levels in particular, some sense of childhood while visiting carnivals and theme parks, rare pulled the feeling off so well despite being not residing in the us to get a good feeling of how a carnival level should look

This is one of my favorite Suoer Nintendo Games! I LOVED DKC2, and love DKC3 more, but I can live the rest of my days without playing the first one... Don't ask me why...just something about the latter two that make it more fun!
