I just realized this is the only level where you can see both kongs in their "lost a life" animation at the same time since normally you'd already had lost one kong before losing the other to lose a life.

This is, in my opinion, the hardest level in any DKC game. Harder than Animal Antics, yes.

Agreed. Animal Antics was fast-paced challenge all the way, but this level built your stress levels up steady and high. No joke, my hands were sweaty and shaking by the time I finished this one, and I felt like I'd just gotten through the hidden K.Rool fight with only Diddy all over again.

The thing is the balance between hard and unfair. Animal Antics is a poece of well designed and great recap level on that game. This by the other side, I think, that barrel had kinda unfair controls (more for a gimmick that was just first introduced in that level), rather than that I'll take the risk to say that it could've been way worse and has a nice design that works over the barrel controls, so still a nice level.

It is harder, but in my opinion; not for a good reason. Animal Antics was hard, because it gave you a huge challenge run; that used the animals abilites to their fullest... well, except Rattly, he didn't get shit. (just jump over spikes). Rocket Barrel Run on the other hand is hard; because it's unique. There is not another level like it in the whole series; this means it requires a lot more effort... however... Rocket Barrel Run feels less like a DKC level, and fits more in at home with Battletoads. This is the only time in the DKC series, where it feels like you need to be absolutely perfect to win. Hell, the last section is basically the Turbo Tunnel. If going for 105%, you'll need insane memory and reflexes to get it with no mistakes.

I love the bass in this! And I love the sense of finality Eveline instilled in this final level song. DKC3's proven that she's actually pretty good at climactic music. The K. Rool fight music is awesome (if too short), and the final chase music is chilling, at least to me. And she does it without even using that grand of an instrumental palette.

Back then, in 1997, I accessed music test via cheat code and found this track. I was confused, I never heard this music in any experience with DKC3, to make matters more confusing, the tune is the same with Northern Kremispere albeit somber. I had no idea about Lost World aka Krematoa. I found out the place accidentally when I got bored with the game, circling the compass rocks using jet sky, I was shocked and in disbelief (this was during pre-internet era, so I had no idea at all). When I entered, I just realized the track I heard from music test was for this place. I wish I could return to 1997

I mean i beat it for the first time some days ago with my little brother and i did it only spending 4 lives, sincerely i had a lot more frustration with the lightning level, it took us 3 continues (we lossed all lives 3 times), also good work as always "Keep the good work" *Bot noises*

level creation style of play reminds me of that water level in earthworm jim, extremely similar piloting a quarky vehicle amongst the level's elements.....in EWJ's case, under water with limited fuel....level in that game was BRUTAL!!

The only two things I noticed was that the lack of delay in some parts, such as in the intro, and also the square wave part at 1:10 should be at the same pitch as it is at 0:24, i.e. it is 4 semitones too high in this version.
