Fun fact: David Wise, the composer, wrote three demo tracks for a jungle style level, and he was told to remove the breaks in between the three songs and play them as one. That became this song. At 0:56, the second track begins. And at 1:30 the third one starts.

The way the music progressively builds up from the bongos to the paired bass notes to the repetition of the chord pairs to the bass kicking off then the keyboard coming in to finally the whole piece coming swingin' with the trumpets and all is just... *chef's kiss* Takes me back, man. The SSBM scoring team did a reasonably good job of revamping this theme for the Jungle Japes level, but there's something about the original that's special in its own right.

This is the song that got me into music. I was 5 years old and hadn't heard anything like Jungle Hijinx. I still haven't. I always go back to it and relisten to it and always notice something new. DKC is one of the best platformers on the SNES. This soundtrack is one of the best of its kind. They sampled everything so incredibly well it might as well be full CD quality audio. David Wise pushed the Sony S-SMP chip to its maximum potential.
