Also: Did you know the devs put a secret barrel under the starting platform that lets you skip this god-forsaken level.

This level. I lost so many times. For the longest time when I was a kid I couldn’t get past the jump at :37, so every time I finally made it, it was a celebration. This level was so hard, but since I played it so much, it probably the one that’s the most dear to me.

Usually I would just listen to the music only themes of OSTs I like, those extended version for example but this one's an exception... It doesn't hit the same without the cart sounds each time it lands back on the rail that sound alone added adrenaline to the level imo.

What a strange decision to put the Enguarde pickup before the checkpoint barrel. Getting 2 extra lives there, only to have to start the level again, seems like a false economy.

Don't get me wrong, I love hard levels, but having this as the eighth level is a weird difficulty curve. The other levels at this point are easy-peasy, including the ones after. Heck, even the second minecart level in the factory is WAY easier than this one.
