Idk man I feel like the originals ( at least the first two, I don’t like DKC3 ) are pretty damn fine as they are, and remaking them in returns and tropical freeze’s artstyle would kind of deminish their atmosphere and ambience... they’re really unique among platformers for that and it would make them less special in my opinion... Don’t get me wrong tho, Tropical Freeze is my favorite out of the 5 games, but it’s artstyle is meant for itself, not the originals

I think in the intro when the penguin freak out when he saws DK's house the king and the troops must have heard of Donkey Kong grand adventures and battle victories over the years.

You can see the worlds on Donkey Kong Island. When Donkey Kong sees a snowflake and it touched his candle, he gets upset and knows the Snowmads are invading the island. His island is covered in ice and snow, that's why the game is called Tropical Freeze. The TVs in the plane show Donkey Kong Country Returns in both of its working and final titles.
