You mentioned adding a lining to the curtain. What type of fabric did you use as a lining?
@landscapes4design6 жыл бұрын
My fabric is a heavy linen and is three widths wide by 9 feet long, so with that amount of weight, and the somewhat open weave of the linen, I feel I need a stabilizer interfacing at the top so it doesn't sag/pull around the grommet from the weight. If I add the stabilizer, I will have the double thickness of the linen, plus lining, plus stabilizer. Will the grommet still close with that many layers? How do I cut the circle template through all those layers of fabric?

I called the ruler a template, when actually it is a measuring tool You can iron directly on it as I do in the video. It is called a "Drapery Hem Gauge" and it is made by Dritz. It's a great tool to add to your tool box. I use it for lots of sewing projects - not just for hemming curtains.

Thanks for a great video! It just so happens that my daughter has just asked me to make her some curtains in this style. I reached your video from the It's Sew Easy web site. I'll be looking for other videos from you in the future.

The video is nice, but it should have come with a direct link to a written tutorial. The website does not have a search option, so it is impossible to find the tutorial she mentions in the video. Now, I have to google other tutorials to see how to measure the fabric. Disappointing.

Should I add some interfacing or something more stable in the header?
@chrislusbytaylor31975 жыл бұрын
Using a blind hemming stitch on the side seams is totally unnecessary. After hemming curtain and lining separately, put the lining and curtain right side to right side, sew the side seams with normal seam allowances. Press the seams. Now pin along the top edge, making sure the left and right edges have equal turnovers, sew top edge. Trim the top corners, turn right sides out again.

I saw that a pack of 8 grommets cost $14 dollars ( Joann's) and since I need 2 panels this is an expensive solution.

Anyone looking for the measurement info she refers to in the video...but can't find. Here is a link to their website for the page with the info www.itsseweasytv.com/projects/series_200/213/Its_Sew_Easy_213-1.pdf

Just use clips. They are just better looking in my opinion no matter the quality of the drapes and the easy to take up and down for cleaning. Grommet curtains look dated now.
