Hot Stuff won Donna a Grammy in the Rock category because its a rock and roll party song not a disco song.

Donna Summer won a Grammy for Best Rock Vocal in 1979 with Hot Stuff, she was also nominated in 1981 as Best Rock Vocalist (Female) for Cold Love and again in 1982 for Protection. Donna is the only artist to win awards in 4 different genres: R&B, rock, dance and gospel. She was nominated in 5 different genres: pop, R&B, rock, dance and gospel. As much as she was a Disco Queen she proved she could sing anything.

Donna Summer was also nominated for "Best Pop Female" for "McArthur Park" but lost to Anne Murray for "You needed Me". I think Donna got robbed for that. I mean who could match Donna's vocals on "McArthur Park"?

… WITHOUT Donna there would be NO Madonna and whatever their names are!! DONNA was and is the queen of all beginnings of today's music! … She was the ancestor of all singers who came after her!! ... I first saw Donna on January 10, 1976 in the "Star Parade" when she sang the song "Love to love you Baby"! It was wonderful!!! ...THEN Donna's world career began!! ... A strong melancholy comes up with me again and again that she is no longer there!! ✨💎✨ 🕯

Donna Summer had one of the best voices of the last 50 years. She could sing ANYTHING from pop to rock to new wave to country and Opera, and recorded all of it. She was amazing and one of the biggest selling female singers of the 70's and 80's and toured and recorded until she died in 2012. The guitar solo was played by Jeff Baxter of the Doobie Brothers. It's been in many movies and commercials since she passed away especially. There is video of her performing live on KZbin. As far as how many views it has, since we can't see what video you are watching, I can't comment, but this song is posted many times, with some views in the millions. Just depends on the clip you choose.

Guys, I always remember this song from a British film called The Full Monty (1997) when the guys were standing in a queue at the job centre, the song came on and they started moving to it - the scene is only about a minute and a half long but it's so funny and one of the classic scenes in the film - here is the clip - kzbin.info/www/bejne/lai8dJxsiraAn9k. Hot Stuff is a great song, I had the single and it's fantastic to dance to, of course. Another great Donna Summer song from 1977 is I Feel Love, we all adored it! The great and one-and-only Donna Summer, the Queen of Disco! She dominated the music scene in the late 70s. Her music can be heard in almost any movie scene set in a club of the late 70s. Her song "I Feel Love" (1977) was ground breaking and influenced music for decades into the current Electronica scene. There are a whole bunch of Donna Summer songs worth exploring. "Last Dance", "I Love You", "Bad Girls", "MacArthur Park", "No More Tears" (duet w Barbra Streisand), "Sunset People", are among some of her hits.

In 1979, I was 15 and Donna Summer was as popular as ever, she could do no wrong by then. But when I was 13-14, I heard her older stuff that was highly erotic for a boy my age; “Love to Love You” kzbin.info/www/bejne/oaWTi4h5dq5ppsU and “I Feel Love” kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4vUoqmojKimabM were two of her best but she does have a nice catalog to choose from. By far, her greatest song was, “Last Dance”. TRUST me, for 25-30 years, this was ALWAYS the last song at parties, weddings, etc. You MUST react to more Donna Summer kzbin.info/www/bejne/rGOVipWFh993epI Donna Summer was a beautiful, sensual, sexy woman with an awesome voice. May she rest in peace. Unfortunately, rockers hated Disco and in 1979, there was two baseball games scheduled in Chicago. That’s called a Doubleheader. Between games, there was a gimmicky promotion where fans were encouraged to bring disco records to blow up. Two of the biggest artists they hated most was The Bee Gees and Donna Summer. It was an unfortunate event 🤷🏻♂️ kzbin.info/www/bejne/l2Ldf2Clgah-pZY

DS is the classic example of how disco started in the gay scene nightclubs. And she specifically targeted that audience. I saw her live on New Year’s Eve in Germany 1975. A gay nightclub outside Munich. Long before she was a huge hit in Europe. By the following year she was an underground hit on the London club scene. Then finally she made it big in the US, but again that was because of the gay NYC scene and Studio 54. I was in NY by then so I lived this transition in real-time. Summer brought Bee Gees together with Grace Jones into a genre that went from gay to straight. But you gotta realise that the very disco-hate that exists to this day comes directly from the hellfire homophobia of then/and now. That’s its source. No dispute. Even the Bee Gees know this.

She had many hits in the 70's that were great songs. Although she made a huge mistake with her religious belief's saying gays will go to hell when the aids epimedic hit. The gay community instead of embracing her music which would of been resionate of the community in many ways dropped her like a hot potato. They never forgave her.

It's more palatable I think to listen and enjoy the disco elements now compared to when a culture is inundated with it from radio/commercials/styles/etc. and how it was altering the music scene as a whole and changing it. You've listened to Pink Floyd The Wall: it's basically got a heavy disco influence which was made my the producer to persuade Roger Waters to check out the music scene going on. Wha la... you have Another Brick in The Wall.
