As much as Donna was labeled the "disco queen" Donna could sing any kind of music, she won the Grammy for best rock vocal for Hot Stuff.

RIP-Donna Summer! Queen of disco,. She was Hot Stuff, back in the hey day of disco. It is one of those ear worm tunes, for sure. I remember this being popular at our grade school dances 💃 LOL. Great memories, thanks Deni! Hap, your fingers are on the pulse of the music 🎶, Hap!! 🔥 Stuff baby!

I was reminded of this fun dancing song by the incomparable queen of disco while attending a wedding reception. Quests of all ages wasted no time to get to the dance floor. There is more to this song, maybe because of time restrictions cut it short. Obviously it was lip synced but Donna Summer still made it real. R.I.P. Thank you Hap for your reaction. 💜🎵🔥🔥🔥

Awesome song! Yes, you are right. Whoever made this video pieced together bits and parts from a live performance and dubbed over the audio. There is normally a section, like you mentioned, that goes, "Hot, hot, hot, hot stuff. ... Hot, hot, hot. ... Hot, hot, hot, hot stuff. ... Hot, hot, hot." ... In the late 1990s, in a club in Washington, D.C., once a month there would be a Flashback Night in which they played hits from the 1970s and 1980s. Was so much fun. Donna Summer and ABBA and the Bee Gees ruled. 🙂

Love Donna Summer. RIP, Sweet Lady. It was and still is a get up off your butt and move song. But Hap, if I was looking for some Hot Love back in my "shopping days", I certainly wouldn't have sang this to someone. Why kill my chances right off the bat? 😂 Thanks for bringing Donna to us today to listen to. Take care and be well. Peace.

💯Disco and put on your dancing shoes 💃🏻. This gets you moving right from the start. A big hit from the late 70s that is still played on the radio here today. I remember my older sister playing this a lot. And like Zana, I also know the song from the film “The Martian”. HAP, I really enjoyed your always insightful analysis as always, great choice Deni🤩🙋🏻♀️.

Yes, too bad it was cut off..And it is old but this song has got to make you move! It's still so popular and aired on the radio. Also it was used in "The Martian" movie..So when I hear it now.. that scene with Matt Damon blasting "Hot Stuff" while driving on the Mars landscape keeps coming to my mind, lol

Donna's not lipsyncing. Some git excised this from a medley of hits she performed live on television in 1987, poorly edited it and overlayed her studio recording on top. Notice all the repeating images...the out of sync mouthing? She's not miming to her record. If I'm not mistaken, the uploader also marked it as OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO. There is no music video for this song. There was a time when singers weren't forced have to make videos.

I once owned a Donna Summer album. This was the era of "Disco Sucks" but I liked her. The guys (my then boyfriend/now husband included) hated disco. I had left the album at someones house and when I went back to get it they had smashed it. To be fair I use to torture them with it by playing it all the time knowing they didn't like it. But still...... BTW this song came out in 1979. (I am NOT old! 😜)

You are right. It was absolutely Disco...lol. Quite popular at the time and huge in the clubs. They actually made clubs available for dancing for teens when Disco was popular here back in the day...no alcohol since it's the U.S. If I remember correctly it was one or two nights a week. Pretty sure I still have the album but you won't catch me listening to it unless I'm dancing...and that's not going to happen these days. It's interesting how quickly Disco became irrelevant after being so massively popular. She had some pipes on her, quite the vocal range too. I think you're right about the lip syncing btw. Thanks, HAP!

Fun reaction! She is one lady who can pull off a tutu and a leather jacket 😊 I agree, I believe it was lipsynched. All in all, it's definitely a dance rhythm. 🕺 Enjoyed the song choice Deni 👌 and, as always, loved your reaction, Hap ✌️ ☮️ 🎶 🥷

Whoever made this video DID cut off the rest of the song and repeated the first verse twice. You're right, there's more to it and the studio version is dubbed over a live performance. I love Donna so thanks for the reaction!!

You did the short version. The longer version kicks butt...Hot Hot Hot..on longer version!!

there IS more to this song at the end. Whoever made this video took a live performance and put the Studio Vocals over it and faded out the end. Donna would almost never lip synch unless it was british top of the POPs where they wont do live performances. Her true Live performance is just as good so not sure why they felt the need to do this!!

I wish people would stop reacting to this video, it cuts the song off at the climax, and fads out in the middle of the guitar solo...This clip is from the mid 80s and not 1979.
