Fat tire minibike build from scratch. In this video: minibike tube frame bending and fabrication. This TB-1000 tube bender has proven itself as a great helper. Before having this I was constricted to using already existing bent tubes but now I have a complete creative freedom when it comes to tube frame fabrication. With this minibike tube frame I've gotten some practice in and feel quite comfortable with bending tubes. This series will follow. I hope you enjoy!

You've come a *loong way* in 5yrs-looking forward to the next 5. *Question:* it's clear the engine is set to the left [24:42]-is this to facilitate a ''jack shaft?'' God bless.

This is one awesome build. Like your attention to detail is amazing. I'm just wandering why you didn't add any suspension, like a rear swingarm? As a kid I've ridden the fat tire bikes. They'll go about anywhere , but really bouncy. Back then it didn't bother me , but now older , and several back surgeries it would be Ruff , Ruff. But given a chance to have this bike I sure wouldn't complain. I grew up around a small engine shop. Dad also had a fab shop. I , a long with neighborhood kids built "deathtrap" bikes from scrap. At that time none of us had the skill level you have. What we put together, we would work on for a couple days to ride until something broke , and then weld more crap on to it. Finally, they looked like Mad Max vehicles 😂. But it kept us from listening to jazz music , and turning into Riff Raff 😁😂😆🤣

nice build - can see a couple of issues though (all of which i'll be happy to be wrong about): - the head tube bearings won't last long, standard roller bearings are not designed for axial loads. - suspect your triple trees will bend although those tyres may compensate. - the lack of a frame member between engine/rear wheel is also a weak point. the tubes are beefy but the frame may flex - could be a benefit depending on how much.
@nommy8599
@nommy8599 6 ай бұрын
I noticed the 1st 2 things too - was looking before asking about bearings. Maybe he could use a thrust bearing instead or as well (planned?) or add some metal to take axial (upwards) load (metal on metal)? I thought the tires might be used quite flat to serve as suspension and keep that front plate from bending at the 1st good bump but they don't look it now. Probably easy enough to reinforce the plate. Cool build though. Perhaps in soft ground it's fine too.
@daos3300
@daos3300 6 ай бұрын
@@nommy8599 easiest would be to replace them with tapered roller bearings, would need some re-working to get them to fit.

Good question eagle eye! The door comes open when there's wind from east and someone comes in from the front door (grandfather goes for a smoke etc). Since my workshop doors are held closed by friction - rubber hose screwed in since there was no door latches for a thick door as this is - sometimes the air pressure from the corridor pushes the door open. Especially when it's cold and dry air like right now and the door shrinks as well. I hope that answers your question.😛

How long I wonder before you get annoyed with the lack of power of that engine and we watch you doing a motor swap? 😅 Mate your work is always quality and it's brilliant both watching as you completely tear down and restore old things that's need some love and attention as well as watching you build stuff from scratch you've designed yourself to help you with something that you need to do or do often. I just really wish you'd take as good care of your big tools and machines like your lathe, mill, etc. Especially the lathe really really needs a good clean and possibly a bit of restoration it'd then be a good idea to get some covers for the ways, like on your mill, to ensure they don't get scratched up or damaged beyond what's useful. Probably make a really interesting video or 3 for you to film as, well. Keep up the great work and content thx.
