Lidocaine is rarely used alone anymore. Most of it has a percentage of epinephrine in it that clears the path for, enhances distribution of and hastens distribution of the lidocaine itself. The reason you felt wonky with the lidocaine Joe is that it likely had some epinephrine in it. Epinephrine is added to some of it so that it speeds up the effect. I was having a tooth removed once. We didn't know this at the time but I have a genetic condition that makes me less sensitive to topical anesthetics. So they kept hitting me with the stuff and the tooth kept hurting when they pushed on it. Finally the juice lady brought in a bottle of oxygen told me I needed to wear an oxygen mask because the juice had epi in it and she had given me so much of it she was afraid I would have a stroke if she gave me any more. So I just sat there and breathed. The tooth still hurt to the touch but just a little and they were able to pull it finally. Point is that the rest of the day after they took me off the O2, I felt like shit and wasn't hungry either. Probably got over amped from the epi in the lidocaine joe
