Good vid, I really like my Hush - X, it is great for practising and is pretty good guitar. It isn't perfect and the neck pickup is a lot quieter, but I rotate it quite regularly between my guitars. The string action is incredibly light , so if you struggle with playing guitar, this is a good option. It sounds pretty good distorted on the humbucker and the middle pickup position provides a nice clean sound. for quiet practice, I use an Xvive mini plug amp with the earpieces and it is a really good distorted sound. You can also connect your phone via the aux jack and jam privately to backing tracks or spotify with a kick ass sound. If you want a great travel guitar, or just a smaller guitar to jam around on, this is a good option.

My Samsung does, otherwise you get a Bluetooth transmitter/receiver that uses the aux input into guitar.

Great review. I usually didn't like any of the travel guitars that came out before but this one looks decent. I assume the HPL fretboard was used to cut cost. I wonder how the fret board feels like. I play in a local cover band and just don't have time to practice pluggin everything in. I just need something to practice on my couch with a headset. I am thinking of getting one but, I would definitely replace the pickups just to see how better it would sound. One improvement would be a bluetooth to connect my phone so I could listen to songs that I play covers to. This is prob another cost to manufacturers to pay the bluetooth license, but I think less wire is more. Thanks for the review. 👍

5:27 - Some people say, I have read, that it would be great if the zero fret had string grooves because the strings seem to wobble left and right there on the zero fret, and because of that a clanking sound can be heard during bends - is this true?
@Music-for-Miles2 ай бұрын
I haven’t noticed that. Notches in a zero fret is actually bad it causes snagging and instability in bends, it eliminates the purpose of it. A lot of strandberg users have to get their zero fret re done because of notches forming over time from heavy use.

Looks good. I wonder if they aer likely to come out with a version of this model with a piezo pick up as well. Do you think that would work? if we're travelling with the guitar it could be good to have all the sounds. However, it may be that ou think that the single coil pick up would be close enough to an acoustic sound to be useful.

I love and hate this guitar. Size and feel is great, but the sound is terrible. Looking forward to a video where someone changes the pickups, as I am thinking about it too. I am not a pro, but hoping this could improve the sound in "mini amp environments" - like the "spark go" for practicing in my camper. Any recommendations for a low cost pickup (as this is still a travel guitar) but could help to feel more comfortable with its sound? 🙏🙃
@Music-for-Miles11 ай бұрын
I might mod mine. The single coil is way too quiet compared to the humbucker, you can fix it using some foam to raise it but curious if it’s a good mod platform. I sent Donner some feedback but my worry is it’s a pcb or something once you open it up and it won’t be easy swap
@derblauevogel111 ай бұрын
@@Music-for-Miles I am less concerned about it being too quiet, than its high sound, which I dislike and can't really get adjusted with my mini amp so far (with the bigger blues cube it works okay though). I haven't opened it yet, but I am concerned about a pcb as well. I was thinking about a DiMarzio DP175S True Velvet BK and a DiMarzio DP 155FBK The Tone Zone combo, as these ares used on the Ibanez RG721FM, which sounds great for a mid priced guitar. Please let us know if you give the mod a try. 🙏🤓

I have one. Replacing the strings is a problem with this guitar. You have these tiny grub screws on the headstock which are a PITA to deal with. Two screws for each string. Feeding the strings through the tiny holes is also not fun. They should make it like a Floyd locking nut instead. I tightened one screw too much and the string snapped. Other than that it’s not too bad over all. But it doesn’t play nearly as well as a Strat or Les Paul.
@Music-for-Miles7 ай бұрын
They include those rubber tubes to help but I agree it’s a bit of a pain compared to other headless guitars but you can’t beat the price on the Donner.

This review failed where all others fail. There was no mention of the negative aspects of the Donnner when playing standing up. The neck tends to fall downwards because it is heavier and due to the position of the strap pin the guitar also falls forward. This makes playing uncomfortable because you need to exert some force with your right arm to keep the guitar in the correct position. It would be necessary to move the pin to secure the strap and put some weight back there so the neck wouldn't fall.
@Music-for-Miles4 ай бұрын
Hey! The top of the neck has a bracket intended for a wall hanger, you can tie your strap there and it balances out the weight vs the strap button. That's what I did at least to combat the issue.
