Poor Nicky, was loyal and gunned down in a fit of paranoia

Lol I realize in the movie it's for dramatic effect but the way that guy asked donnie to come with him was ridiculous, all he was supposed to do was get him, not sit behind him, point a gun at him and make it seem like he was going to get killed, makes no sense
@Antonocon Жыл бұрын
Definitely. I think they were trying to convey that Donnie thought he might get killed in this situation and the director couldn't come up with a better method of getting that point across.
@manuteboler Жыл бұрын
@Antonocon right, that does seem like what they were going for, but it just makes no sense, it wasnt subtle or questionable, he sat right behind him without saying a word and pointed a gun to his head lol like wtf

@@manuteboler Agree, that scene didn't make sense. Donnie was an accepted member of the crew by that point or he wouldn't have been there. I didn't get why it was implied he could be killed.

Throughout the entire movie, Paulie acted secretly suspicious of Donnie. This scene makes complete sense to his character.

love that scene, up until that moment the violence in the movie is rather tame but here you can see what the gruesome conequences of this life really can be. Even though its widely historically inaccurate the visceral execution of this scene (no pun intended) is brilliant.

This scene actually took place, in a Brooklyn nightclub. According to Joe Pistone, the real life Donnie Brasco, 85% of this movie is accurate.
@STONESGAM Жыл бұрын
I think Donnie Brasco is a very good movie. Maybe not a masterpiece or as ambitious like The Godfather 1 and 2 or Goodfellas but it is probably one of the most accurate in how it portrayed the mob of the late 70's and early 80's in New York for the average soldiers doing the street level earning and grunt work and hits. I know the movie re-arranged some of the actual events and how things went down in real life but the whole vibe of the film is very accurate. And it is probably in the top five for Al Pacino's acting talents in my opinion even if other films of his are much more famous.
@pboissie11 ай бұрын
I still think his acting range was much better with Lefty character compared to Michael Corleone. Maybe because Michael was just a brooding person and not as colorful or animated by nature as Lefty, so there is that. Plus at this age in Pacino’s acting career when he played Lefty, he was a much more seasoned actor with a wider repertoire I guess.
@czwarty78786 ай бұрын
@@pboissie for me it's the fact I saw him in these other roles that made this one so impressive, and my favorite of his. Such a complete 180 of a character to these other ones, and not for a moment you think "oh it's the guy that played Corleone/Montana/Carlito etc" you just only see Lefty, 100%. That such a characteristic and unique famous actor can completely disappear in a character is the most impressive show of his abilities
