Embraced, the lovers desperately try to fuse their insulated ecstasies into a single self-transcendence; in vain. By its very nature every embodied spirit is doomed to suffer and enjoy in solitude. Sensations, feelings, insights, fancies-all these are private and, except through symbols and at second hand, incommunicable. Donnie Darko deftly captures the angst of the teenage boy as he attempts to navigate his path into adulthood. Finding love, standing up for his values, battling depression as well as his bully schoolmates. And then a jet engine falls on his head....This is a classic film that I watch several times a year, always finding something i missed before, moving deeper into the realm of Donnie's darkened soul. Yet he epitomizes truth, compassion, blooming sexuality, understated masculinity. I will forever cherish this movie until a jet engine falls into my own bedroom.

The result was not good. So I waited a while and saw it last year and found confusion again. Now I am going to try again this week and see what time and age makes any better results. I am not a stoner. Most of my friends back then were into alcohol and drugs. A few years later I told them all to F O because they would only drop by to ask a favor or "borrow" money. Dilruba Ahmed , I’m dead serious! Donald trump is also Marty McFly and his uncle john trump is Doc brown! Donnie darko and back to the future are all apart of the same story/ universe, “our universe” ! The sequel S. Darko is about the universe Donald died in, its about his sister Samantha in the original timeline. Before Donnie had died , his consciousness traveled through a mirror portal through astral projecting to a parallel universe where his parallel body was taken over by the consciousness of the timeline of where he’ was meant to die, the consciousness that was in the parallel body took the place of his dieng body, leaving us with the Donald who escaped his fate and has now manipulated the future to become president, welcome to our tangent manipulated universe! I know all of this factual because I have prebirth memory of seeing these things take place before they took place!

All my friends my age (born in 1980) have Stand By Me playing a big part in their cinema education despite only being 6 years old when it came out. We discovered it in our mid-teens, as I think a lot of people did, with Scream only a couple of years later and DD 5 years after that. Add American Beauty, Fight Club, Se7en and Sideways to the list. Maybe it's more reflective of the films me and my friends were drawn to, but they also seemed to be very zeitgeisty at the time.

i saw this movie yesterday and it is now my favorite movie. i don’t know why; it just spoke to me. It made me love this song more than I already did (if you’ve played Gears Of War you can maybe relate) but damn. this movie is something else. it makes me cry and laugh at the same time. like i said, it speaks to me.

Dylan Williams Now That sentiment defines the current generation of self-entitled sanctimonious intolerant authoritarian SJW snowflake asshats who demand others recognize their feelings while they attempt to silence anything that dares disagree with them or which they do not agree. (Limited) freedom of choice is what we've got. Freedom from choice is what you want.

Another amazing thing about this soundtrack is that the movie starts with an Echo and the Bunnymen song: the Killing Moon. Not only is it a great song but BUNNYMEN! It's an allusion in the movie even before anybody says a word.

This movie Is in my opinion the Movie that changed my whole outlook ...and made me feel things that I never thought existed In me .....and this song God it reaches deep ....I can't listen to it without tearing up ...And the movie tears me up also ...Donnie Darko is one movie I think everyone should see ..I made my grandson watch it with me and he thought it was awesome ..he even teared up at the end ...as I guess we all did at the end ..

Music, tremendous story, actors, MESSAGE, i would say that´s one of the most underestimated movie. I confess, i needed two times to understand that movie. "Hello teacher, tell me what´s my lesson..."

The song's very short anyway. It's a great song. I don't think hearing it two or even three times is the sort of 'repetitive' that people don't want. Thanks for posting. :) x

I watch this movie at home with my boyfriend and during the movie, I feel deeply all the emotions with the music. I understand that this boy will be my great love forever. I lose it since many years but this music remembers me how it was important to me 😢.

Great song from a great movie; I was quite a Tears For Fears fan in the day, but confess i didn't even know it was their song; and I have to say I prefer the Gary Jules version here.
