Yes! Mikes death wasn’t badass at all. Any of these would’ve been better: -(the scene you suggested) -Saving Jesse at the end of the series. -“I am the one who knocks!” -Visiting Gretchen and Elliot and threatening them with the “2 best hitmen” -Confronting the bullies who were making fun of Walt. Jr. -Running over and shooting the drug dealers who were gonna shoot Jesse (the one who shot Andreas brother). But the Mike scene? It’s not that I’m even biased towards Mike, it just shows Walt as a coward.

Yeah this top 5 is awful. The real top 5 would be something like 5 - Gassing Emilio & Crazy 8 4 - Tread Lightly 3 - Running over the guys Jesse was about to kill 2 - Sending Jesse to kill Gale 1 - Massacring the Nazis and rescuing Jesse. The only reason the Nazis is above Gale is because in that episode he gets a little bit of redemption before he dies.
@stevepreskitt28324 күн бұрын
@@Synchronised01 I'd replace #5 with, "Stay out of my territory". Walt dispatched Emilio/Crazy 8 because he had an unexpected opportunity in the face of abject fear and self-preservation, not because he was a badass. Starve to death in the basement or get wasted by Jesse? Lol). @YourMum-u4v18 күн бұрын
@@Sile1nce76 Nobody criticized the writing. They criticized the character, in-universe. You can call Sauron evil without saying he's poorly written. You can call Batman selfish in his pacifism without calling him the villain. Walter White is a selfish, cowardly man whose shooting of Mike was preventable, undeserved, and short-sighted. This was an impulsive decision that Walter made because he feared being ratted out by the 9 guys after Mike left the game and refused to take the advice to get going. If Walt took that opportunity he could have made off clean with tens of millions of dollars and his family would be almost entirely intact. At worst, the Whites have to leave Marie and Hank behind with the vacuum salesman's family bundle. Walter White's negative traits are compelling. We like that. We're happy with how it was written because we relate to and feel for Walt, and can see from his eyes why he does the things he does even when we disagree with them. The show is amazingly written, and Walt is no exception. But Walt is also a cowardly, selfish egoist.

'Say my name.' 'You're goddam right.' _still_ gives me chills. Cranston is easily on my short list of greatest actors currently working. And it's a _very_ short list.

I have always felt that Mike was the baddest man in the show. Fine, he got killed by Walt but evolution wise he was still miles ahead of Walt. Walter was majorly a guy with a bruised ego and he sought redemption everywhere in the name of his family. Walt's biggest strength was his (almost) constant comraderie for Jesse Pinkman.

Honestly, Walt didn't just kill Gus for ego/pride. Gus threatened to kill him many times including the time at the laundry when almost killed him, so he had to take extreme measures

Walt all along had family who would pay the bills. He got offered help to sort out everything by Grey Matter (who Walt had left of his own accord all those years ago). At first he done what he done, and refused help, because of his deep insecurities. Then at some point he was all ego and that's why he done what he done. Remember how annoyed Walt was when his cancer went back into remission? He was annoyed that he no longer had the excuse to keep on making meth. Walt had millions of dollars and could have retired. But no he kept on going. People still want to defend Walt

All of the musical choices were amazing. Even the songs that aren't anything I'd listen to normally lend so much additional power and intensity to their respective scenes. For example, that wacky rock track that plays when he tells those wannabe cooks to stay out of his territory. I'd never listen to it on its own, but it so perfectly captures the mood and vibe of the scene. Then there's Fred Astaire's "Pick Yourself Up" playing over the course of the GRUESOME prison murder scene; that's something I would listen to naturally, but pairing it with this absolutely ruthless string of horribly graphic murders-- it's so light and lilting and cheerful, which makes the scene so, SO much colder in my opinion. The perfect show. I know some people prefer BCS, but it's just not the same. It's a great series, but it just doesn't possess the same range, diversity of interests & emotions, and WILD levels of character development that BB does. And this is coming from a complete Mike & Saul stan! 🤌

Mike was more badass than Walt ever was by a long shot, but they should have added the: "Stay out of my territory" parking lot scene.. it was so good
