Donnie Iris had another song called My Girl. It’s actually my favorite. Very underrated artist. Not sure what happened to him or why he’s not making music nowadays but he was amazing in the day.

Hey Harri. Thanks for reacting to this great, yet underappreciated artist. He has a great voice, and an amazing sense for hard, edgy RnR, but also for ballads that aren't too sappy. Give a listen to, " Sweet Merilee" if you wish. I think his, " King Cool" album is a classic! I'm originally from Chicago, and Donnie got a bunch of airplay there in the 1980's! He's the dude!!

Donnie was in the group the Jaggerz, he was also at one point in the group Wild Cherry. Donnie is from Pittsburgh and still going. Has a birthday concert every year. He is I believe in his 80s. Still the same.

Believe it or not in The late 80's the band Slade did a cover of this. Quiet riot did a few Slade covers it was nice to see Slade do one. They did a great job too.

Sometimes chart success is hard to judge. Ah Leah was actually only #29 on the pop chart while another song "My Girl" went to #25 but I guarantee that many more people are familiar with Ah Leah. Love is like a Rock did go to #9 on the mainstream rock chart which is actually better than Ah Leah which was #19 on the same chart. In those days , you typically had Top 40 radio and AOR (Album Oriented Radio). The latter morphed into Classic Rock Radio several years later. Many songs became popular on AOR before they crossed over to the pop charts. Top 40 used to be filled with crossover songs from other music charts including Rock, Country, R & B etc. As years went by, Top 40 or Pop music kind of became it's own genre reflecting the popularity of commercial music.

I had to hear Dominic Lerace (Donnie Iris) constantly living in the same small town from where he was from so basically such a small town, he was the biggest thing going for it and you know what, it wasn't so bad🤷🏼‍♂️. Still jam out to the songs till this day👍
