@@glennelliott708 nope, look at the ice time. JT got all of his ice time with Hughes out there after coming back and did so before too. Peteys icetime with Hughes is very low when JT is there. Its been a thing Tocchet has done a long time. Hughes and Miller are out there vs the other teams top line so they play a ton together. Its Quinn that stirs the drink and you can see that the more Hughes time JT or Petey get the better they do (its like 65% vs 40% of share expected offense with or without Hughes... its crazy). Both Miller and Petey are more likely to get scored on than produce if they are out there without Hughes. Hughes is the same regardless of linemates (goes down 2% with Miller, is at his average with Petey).
@geebster.13 сағат бұрын
For over a month now Peteys gone at 1.4 points per game.. 6th most productive player in the league. Also you cant just look at cap hit to rank a player by salary. You look at what percent of the cap their contract takes up when they signed. Otherwise you are comparing old contracts from a lower cap to a higher one (omg there are 4th liners making more than Gretzky omgggg). Petey, when he signed his deal, was 21st highest paid by cap%. Thats an underpay probably because hes closer to a top 15 guy than 21st.

@@goenzoy712 he had a really bad 2nd half and playoffs for sure last year. But when we went 3 rounds (play in then to round 2), Petey was amazing. Some crazy plays against Vegas too. Hughes also had a bad playoff last year but his first one he did great. Sure we can't discount Peteys bad 2nd half last year or bad first few weeks this year.. but if those count then what about the first half last year when he was leading the league in points, or the last month and a bit. I think a lot of it is because when he has a bad shift he makes faces, people don't empathise with that as much as they do Miller breaking sticks and yelling etc. Overall he's paid a fair amount and is consistently dominant in his own end, his offense has gone on and off and we need more consistency but he's going to be underpaid real soon as the cap goes up even without that.
@cheguevara841013 сағат бұрын
Pettersson deserves better, if the city keeps hating on him, then move him. For a hypothetical trade with Buffalo, maybe Benson, Byram, plus additional picks? It’d be pretty fun seeing Petey play with his friend Dahlin. And maybe in a market like Buffalo he won’t become scapegoat for everything.

Hughes is a Canuck leader through his play and his dedication to always trying to raise the level of his game- not simply being content with showing up. @37BopCity14 сағат бұрын
"Petterson for Cousins and Byram?" This is the first I've heard of this, but in my opinion it could be a good deal for both teams. Canucks need a major change, and so do Sabres. Petterson is not living up the huge expectations that he agreed to when he became one of the Top 10 Highest Paid players in the NHL, and I don't think he ever will with Canucks. Maybe he can turn it around with Sabres. Cousins and Byram could be just the spark Canucks need at this time.
@OhCanada-wk3kl14 сағат бұрын
I would be so pleased with this trade! Petterson is not a top 3 player (as dictated by his salary) and is definitely not a franchise player (a term that has been very water-downed by player agents in the last several years). I would suggest Hughes deserves the 11.6 million per season- not Petterson! The question is whether the Canucks want to bank their future as a franchise around Petterson? Does he compete and lead the team consistently, particularly in the Big games when it counts? Will he be able to lead the Canucks to a Stanley Cup? I for one think NOT!
